I was vaguely surprised nobody commented on my Best-of-2013 entry, I thought it was funny myself: the world as a bowl of Chinese Noodle Soup. Have you ever SEEN water like that? All my years here, I never have; breeze and current opposed in such a precise way as to produce this pattern. So I just wanted to share.

I tend to use best-of-years to highlight something that amuses or intrigues me. I'd probably have scored better if I'd put up another frame of my Cardinal-in-the-Snow shot, but...

That is pretty unusual Bear I have to admit I didn't notice it when I voted.
Now that you pointed it out it looks like the winds in your face and the ripples are bouncing back off the bank.
It also looks as if the current is moving left to right. Ya see that calm spot behind the driftwood on the left hand side?
What ever it is it's making a pretty wild scaly pattern in the drink. Nice find Bear.

ive seen a similar effect when i used to spend time on the Chesapeake, granted a small boat wake was involved with the cross breeze. nothing natural such as this.

I actually thought it was yours but I didn't figure the title because when I go to the ramen restaurant, they never use instant ramen. ;-Þ
