I have been doing my photography challenges as time allows me of course and I have been happy with results. The fact that I am still learning about the rules and such and also learning from everyone here I have been pleased to date on this site.

I do have a question though. For the Advance Editing challenges, are we able to, if we rotate the picture to make it leveled and straight use the Fill/Content Aware feature to fill in the edges?

I always make sure that when I do challenges I use the most basic of skills in PS to make sure I am not disqualified.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you CAN NOT fill the open areas. That would be adding new content.

When I do a leveling rotation, I just crop to the edges.

I think Larry is right, that would be considered creating new image area.

i'd bet that's a no-no.

I would most certainly not use the fill feature
I'm sure if there isn't too much space to fill - then the warp / free transform features could be used to stretch the photo to fill the frame (if a crop doesn't work like LN13 already said)

or liquify, since you can mask the main parts of your image as not to distort it.

but i wonder if this is even legal... you are still creating image area where none existed.

Awesome...This really helps. It does make sense about it creating an image out of something that is not there.

Thank you all for a speedy response.

Yes, I would say without question that is an illegal edit.

Definitely illegal. If you need to level up a little bit without cropping more than absolutely necessary, try the skew tool in Photoshop. It works a treat for leveling horizons especially.

Look at you! Only on the force for a day or two and you're already throwing your weight around! :P

Have a donut. (and yeah, I took a bite of it)

Ahhhhh, this is gonna be fun. At least until I'm suspended. :P

What Bear said. From the rules: "You may not use ANY editing technique to create new image area..."
