I would be shooting Winter Solstice - I'm not sure exactly what is meant to be shot for this though. Is just wintery stuff in general ok?

I'll try a shot of a crisp dark black long night

I have the same question. Has there ever been a Solstice challenge?

If you were in Scotland, you would be about a 12 hour drive from Stonehenge:)

Solstice is all about the quality of light and the light angles, regardless of which hemisphere is experiencing the extreme turning point.

You may not have much Winter, but you do have Winter Park ;-)

Solstice literally means "sun stop" in reference to the halting of the progressive lowering of it's hightest point above the southern horizon (in the northern hemisphere). For the next six month or so the arc of the sun's path (ecliptic) will move progressively northward, with the northern hemisphere days getting progressively longer. Halfway there will be the equinox ("equal nights") marking the beginning of Spring/Fall ...

If forced to make a suggestion maybe try concentrating on the themes of "sun" and "stop" ...

Winter Solstice - aka shortest day of the year.

Conversely,

Summer Solstice - longest day of the year

Winter Solstice is when the Sun stops moving and then starts moving in the opposite direction hence, days get longer. Celebrations include bonfires, dancing, singing. It's a joyful time and a time to reflect.

I googled solstice images for inspiration

I would think the Sun needs to be included in some manner.

Also google solstice celebrations. Lots of pagan revelry and mystery involved. Sun in the image is not a requirement.
