On a recent trip to London, my wife and I walked from Waterloo tube station to the other side of the tracks through a tunnel under them. The tunnel was an 'authorized graffiti area' and every square inch was covered with the most interesting, vibrant, graffiti. I talked with a guy painting a new image, which was pretty much out of my comfort zone, and asked him what the life expectance of his image would be. He said about 2 days before another atist painted something new over it. It might be an acquired taste. But this was really fun!

See the rest here!

These were shot without a flash in the dimly lit (with fluorescents) tunnel. I love the low light performance of my D800E.

LOL, at that rate, how long before the tunnel is too narrow to walk through? ;-)

ETA: The answer is, the tunnel could get as much as 2cm narrower every year!

True enough, but the chances of all layers having good adherence is pretty low. I'm betting on self-removal about every 2cm or so. :D

I love good/great graffiti work.
Some pieces are amazing and real art pieces.

Just outside the railway station of Antwerpen Centraal, the city asked several graffiti artists to "do their thing".
There were apparently "rules" or at least some requirements. These pieces are protected by the city and the railway police actually keeps an eye on them by the means of cameras.

A bit further starts the normal graffiti, the tagging etc.

I'm in for places where they are allowed to show their art (REAL art). I don't like the tagging-to-tag, destructive graffiti on e.g. peoples houses, roller shutters of houses or stores, vans etc.

I can see the lawsuit now ... "I was hit on the head by a sharp piece of graffiti ..."

Very cool graffiti. I enjoy photographing graffiti for my blog as well.

Hartford, CT has put aside an entire "cement" park, for lack of a better word, right in downtown Hartford so taggers would try to limit their graffiti to just this one area. I write about it in my blog.
