I was asked by a friend to shoot individual and team pictures for her sons YAFL football team. I thought great I haven't done anything like this so it would be a good learning experience. As it turns out I am doing 2 teams the first team is a bit older, 5th graders as opposed to 3rd graders. The 5th graders came out pretty well I had to change the background in it as well from houses to a solid sky with some clouds. I left a fence line and a few bushes and shrubs in the background to make it look more realistic and it turned out pretty well.

I just shot the image for the 2nd team (3rd graders) yesterday and a nearby field with different background. I am really not liking the background at all and looks very confusing and distracting to me. So I went from the ground up with sky and added some clouds. It looks ok (meh) and looks to me like it is lacking something. I would like to put some shrubs and bushes in the background but having problems finding any brushes that will do it. Here is the before and after images. Am I on the right track or should I just scrap the whole idea and roll with the original?

And how many kids do you need to fix the background for? It would probably be easier to grab a stock football background and put each kid into the same background. Something like this maybe... link

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't THIS background pretty much mandatory for school age photos?
