Do we have an idea as to when we will get the teams situated? Just curious, because I remember last time we had team stuff it took a little while for me to remember all the names and styles of the teammates. There a way we can get the teams situated maybe a week or two in advance?

Just a thought, and you are allowed to decline that if need be. It won't hurt my feelings, I promise. ;)

I suspect that the 'random' team formation may be a problem for many would-be participants. Please let folks who aspire to team with each other do so. Else you may see some drop outs from 'random teams.'

I m good to go for any team. If someone needs an extra and will have me, i'll be happy to join. If not, send me to the randomizer

I was hoping that TPL will stimulate forming of new teams rather than reiterating the old ones. Maybe everyone should just accept the random allocation.

I expect that might be possible, but we'll need to wait for MAK to weigh in on the subject.

Life is going to be a little crazy for a while, as I'm moving about 2000 miles in about a month, and work is stacked high...

Still, this is really an important project to me, and despite the fact that it's looking like I may be doing more than originally intended, I expect we'll have something setup within a while.

Sorry for the delays, but we'll get there. (when we get there! ;) .. )..

No worries Cory,I'm sure folks can wait a bit.
Everyone really appreciates all that you guys are doing.
Thanks.

As Cory says we are working hard during holiday period so a Jan 1st start is unlikely.

I have a list of players now and I will be setting up a system to select team members. I have had many requests from people to be on a team with buddies and I will try where possible to make that happen but I very much doubt all 6 will be on a team together, the math will not work sorry, you may have 2 or 3 on each team so enjoy the battle :)

mbrutus2009- you will have plenty of time to organise your new friends and make a team name/logo etc before we kick off.

Cory- Top geazer mate thanks.

This is correct, my thought was to build the community participation of this site and get people working together who otherwise may never of even spoken to each other.

From below:
"A “season” will consist of as many weeks as required for each team in a league to play each other team in that league once."

I have calculated that if there are 8 teams per league a season will last 28 weeks! Is that right? (number of combinations of 2 in 8 without repetition)

That would be if only one combination played per week, but each week there would be 4 matches (with 8 teams) and then the competition would extend by only 7 weeks (28/4).

Thanks. 2 leagues, 8 teams each and 7 weeks duration are good numbers. It takes a lot of work to do one's best in a competition.

If there is a truly random team assignment, I'd love that! I love getting to know new people here at DPC.

For me, the fun is in the team... discussing and helping and then... the competition.

I do love to win, but I love the challenge even more.

Think of it as seeded random... Kinda intending to make sure the teams are balanced in terms of potential.

I'm sure that random teams will result in many people who abandon the competition for several reasons after the teams are ready, but if these are the rules we should follow them...

Lets hope your thoughts are wrong.

I have updated the OP if you are not on the list and want to be (or I have missed your name due to excessive drinking of fine red French wine) then please let me know before you all go into the Randomiser.

Please do not worry, people with a wish to not be selected with certain members is 100% effective, I have received a list from a team that want to stick together, I cannot guarantee that sorry but some of you will be together. This is more about meeting new people and having fun, if people drop out because of it then so be it.. we have many people wanting to play that can take the place of those who drop out..

socialise folks... it's 2013 party time.

I am not worried in the least about how the teams shake out. I am looking forward to getting the creative and competitive juices flowing whether I am working with folks I know or folks I am getting to know. Thanks, MAK and crew.

My feelings also, getting to work with members that I've never met before would be great. Looking forward to the TPL kick off. Thanks TPL team for all the hard work.
