My last image photo included a photo of text art. Assuming someone would question the text I sent the original in for validation. Just came back as disqualified. I do not understand. The rules specifically state you may not add text to the image. Nothing is said about photographing text. It seemed a creative technique and more than one commenter has appreciated. Not scoring high enough to ribbon (as I expected), so perhaps I should not have submitted it for validation. However, it is nice to learn the nuances of the rules. Still do not understand the ruling.

Must still be in an active challenge, as it's not in your profile?

Either way, unless it was expert editing, or the challenge specifically allowed different captures to be combined (other than for the purpose of exposure management such as HDR), it would be illegal.

I agree. These are the kinds of decisions that help us all understand the "nuances of the rules" as you say.

Also, you should feel free to respond to the Site Council and ask for clarification on why your image did not conform to the rules. The DQ messages can sometimes (almost always) be a bit cryptic, and the user is left to wonder. If you ask, they will take time to explain what exactly was wrong. You still may be left with questions on how to interpret this or avoid it in the future, and at that point, after the challenge, discussing it here is the thing to do.

You may not,

add graphics, clip art, computer-rendered images or parts of other photographs to your entry or its border during editing (except for combining photos as allowed by the multiple capture rules above

Could be this rule ?

Please send us a ticket and we will gladly answer your questions regarding this DQ. Unfortunately, because this challenge is still in voting, we cannot discuss your image in the forums at this time.

I'm not sure what rule set your DQ falls under, but ten years ago I had to get this image validated.

This was still under what was called classic editing and was similar to the basic editing rules used today. Everything was one photo and no rules were broken.

I can only assume that you did something different if your photo was disqualified.

Really 13, 1 and 2 votes each? Tough crowd. And people complain about troll voting today?
