Mars rover Curiosity has taken a high resolution self-portrait. It's composed of 55 images stitched together, and shows Curiosity at "rocknest" where it took its first soil samples, with Mount Sharp and the Gale Crater wall in the background. Incredible resolution in this one.

The horizon is tilted. Lighting is flat. 5

We should have a contest to count the number of plastic cable ties visible in that image :-)

You can even see where the scientists have signed their names.
