I will be hanging my exhibit "Captured in the Northwest" tomorrow and it will be up for six weeks. I'd love to have any DPCers in the area come check it out.

The exhibit features eighteen images printed on metal or canvas.
The downtown venue serves up great coffee and the panini sandwiches and pastries are wonderful too. It's located north right across the street from Pacific Place. Please note they are closed on Sunday and evenings though (M-F 6:00-5:00, Sa 7:30-2:30).

Announcement on my site...

Cool, Brent! I'll definitely try to get down there. Can I tell 'em "Brent Smith sent me and said the coffee and scones are on his tab."? ;-)

If I get a chance to get up there, I'll make an effort to drop by.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle.
I'll be back up this weekend (Sunday-Monday) and will try to take a peek.

Very cool! If I make it down in the weeks to come I'll defiantly stop by.

I'm out of state until the 22nd but will make it there afterwards.

Congratulations Brent. Take some photos of the exhibit and post it for those of us too far away.

(And for yourself...I've found it helps to remember what you hung later.)

I wish I could see your exhibit Brent, especially the metal prints, I bet they turned out great! Looking forward to seeing pictures of the venue.

Thanks all! It would be great if some of you can make it there :) And I hope to make it by your exhibit opening next month Frank.

My office is right down the street from the venue Ken, so there is a good chance you would see me in there and I will cover your coffee and scone ;)

Yes, I'll take some shots of the venue once everything is up. If anything I want to just document all the work I have been going through to get eighteen images prepped! :P

Congratulations! I'm curious where you get your "aluminum or canvas prints"? To be honest, I've never heard of "aluminum prints"

Fantastic, Brent, and congratulations! May you sell them all!

OOh, I'll definitely go see it!

Just put in a plug for you on the Seattle Photography Club FB site. :-)

Thanks Don and Johanna, and appreciate the plug Heather :)

Well when I say printed on aluminum I mean what is commonly known as a metal print Don. They print directly onto a sheet of aluminum and in glossy form it looks just like paint on a car and color and detail come out marvelous on these. And you may be happy to know one of your "fantasy art gallery" picks became a real gallery item in metal with this exhibit ;)
I get the metal prints from Bay Photo in Santa Cruz and they do a great job-
Metal Prints

I'm exhausted! I just finished hanging the whole thing myself and only had a 2-1/2 hour window to get them to the venue and up before the caffe' closed. And I had to work my way around customers! Looked pretty good for a first pass anyway and I will go in and fine tune it on Monday. I definitely filled their walls at least. Didn't even have time to snap some shots of the installation.

And... already someone who knows Paul Allen who of course commissioned the EMP building took my card as they thought he or his entourage would like to see what I have done with the building printed on metal. So who knows? :-D

That's great ... as long as the building isn't copyrighted and they want to get you for infringement. But, maybe he just wants a copy for his office ...:-)

Congratulations on the show!

PS: Thanks for the info on the metal prints -- I have one picture I've printed on metallic paper and it sounds like it would look great on this too.

Just stop by this morning to take a look at the photos and they are outstanding.
Lots of great eye-catching pictures, some truly standouts and wonderfully composed.
Now, those metal prints...WOW! The colors and detail really pop-off. It almost pales to compare the canvas prints you also have on display.
Gorgeous work.

Plus it was nice to catch up to Mario, he really loved your prints too.

Thanks for stopping by Jayson! I really had to rush the installation the other day, but I was fairly satisfied with how it looked when I went in for a brief look today. And yes, others who have gone in have said the owner Mario seemed happy with the installation. I'm just glad it is finally up :P

Thanks Vikas and Joe :) It was a lot of work to prepare, but now that it is up I am enjoying it and others seem to be as well.

The largest image is a 30"X45" metal print Joe and it does look kinda' huge. I think there are four 24"X36" and even more 20"X30" with a few smaller. The large ones fill the walls nicely but might be a hard sell in this economy :P
