Off to Majorca tomorrow got a villa and a hire car going for relaxing sight seeing holiday

Packing my bag at mo, so far I have 5d mk2 16-35,28-70, 50 1.4, carbon fibre tripod, 15" mbp, filters, releases Swiss army knive etc

But do I take my 70-200 2.8 can't see me doing much long telephoto work. And she's a big heavy girl.

Erm decisions

Will 70mm be enough?!

I bring everything with me everywhere.
Bought a Think Tank bag that's pretty comfy to wear and it fits nicely on the planes.

I'd just take the 50 1.4 and the camera, I'm starting to believe fewer decisions make for better pictures.

After I wrote my original post, I remembered most of my photos are taken with my 50mm f/1.4. It's the lightest, smallest lens I own, so it gets used the most.

its the sigma 50mm 1.4 its a beast of a lens,

ive got a 2 massive bags( lowepro pro trekker, and lowepro compurover aw) last time i took my lowepro mini trekker, but didnt take a laptop or tripod or filters etc

but i dont think ill need it, so it can stay at home, taking my 16-35 for all those glorious coasts and bays

not taking a flash

Only if you are renting a car which looks like you do. I would not carry a 70-200 around my neck walking around town, it's just too heavy. But if I am driving around, I have everything in the car, so if I see something I like to shoot, I just pull over and get the lens I want from the car. 24-105 is a pretty good all-purpose lens for travelling, however the image quality isn't where some of the other L lenses produce, but it's good enough that I would make that trade. When it gets dark, I just use the 85mm.

I wouldn't want to be without the big lens for seascapes, myself. You're heading to a "cliffy" location, with lots of structures tacked onto the cliffs, and the visual compression of the long lens works very well for that stuff.

Luckily it's just a holiday. Usually those are just a 1/2 day with family, so a 70-200 lens isnt necessary.

Now if you were going on vacation, then I'd definitely take it!! :P

I'm sat airside at the airport, had a re think ditched my two massive lowepros and my 15 mbp and I've brought my think tank retrospective 20 and my iPad, popped out this morning and got the iPad camera connector, freed up 30gb of kids stuff off it and got 64gb of memory cards and 30gb on iPad lol.

The 70-200 is with me, better to have it and not use it than not have it. We are out in the sticks so no Internet for a week I think,

:) have a good week everyone, leaving a very dark stormy Manchester hers hoping for some sun :)
