I still believe that the voting requirement is not unreasonable, but we''ve listened to a lot of the views on the subject, and we agree that some adjustments to the system should be made.... and they will. We probably won''t be able to build a system to cover all grounds for a few weeks. So, here''s the question...

In a one sentence response (so I can read them quickly ;), would you like the requirement to stay in place or not until we get the new system up?

Those of you who visit the site before midnight tonight get to have your voices heard :)

No... Having looked at profiles where the voter has averaged 2.5 or so and forcing these folks to vote would only detract rather than enhance the results. On a 1 to 10 scale 4, 5, 6 should be the norm.

Leave the system as is. I think that the 95% 25% is fine It makes sense. This site is free and fun. Please stop the complaints. Just comply with the rules and have fun.

I agree with John22132.

I prefer to receive comments only from people who ?want? to leave them, But voting should be mandatory for photographers.

No - they promote stupid / meaningless comments, and I find it difficult to get through 150 photos so I can't enter a photo

No. If you're not going to make it a long term requirement, then don't implement it for the short term.

No - the new requirements have not proved to achieve the desired results (ie, several comments on my photo this week include "Clever", "It's okay", "pretty", and "5" - not exactly useful critiques).

Yes leave it as it is untill you have the new system in place

I like it.. Its made me make alot more comments than I normaly would. If all I can think of is one or two words I don't leave one. I try to at least say a sentence or two if I do make a comment.

I agree with John22132 (yes, put up and shut up) but with Iggy386 (no, if you''re not keeping it - don''t start it).

I was one who was against: But the "jury" is still out. Better to leave it until a permanent solution is met than keep changing it.

Voting shouldn't be mandatory imho, just greatly encouraged, but I'll follow the rules.
07/21/2002 09:24:23 PM · #14
Leave as is untill the new system is in place.
07/21/2002 09:26:49 PM · #15
Either way.
I''d just like less ''bitch'' but know that this is pretty normal for just about any group.

One sentence: do away with it until the new system is in place.
07/21/2002 09:31:41 PM · #17
Stay
07/21/2002 09:59:01 PM · #18
Keep it until the new one is in place.
07/21/2002 10:02:27 PM · #19
With 195 submissions so far this week ... I say get rid of it until something else is in place or at least back it down to 50%. I voted on all 175 this week with a dialup connection ... and it wasn't easy!

Scrap the comment loophole and I don't care about the vote requirement. Either way.

(Opps, that was 2 sentances... Sorry!)
07/21/2002 10:20:56 PM · #21
I vote to do away with it until a new, friendlier system is in place
07/21/2002 10:26:24 PM · #22
Since I always vote 100%, it doesn't make any difference whatsoever with me.
07/21/2002 10:36:49 PM · #23
I promise not to complain either way.
Did I leave out a comma?
07/21/2002 10:43:31 PM · #24
The new voting method has produced more meaningless comments to my picture so I vote to go back to the old way until you have the new system coded, then we can yell at that one.

Seeing that submitions for Texture will be 200+ and in consideration of the dial-up members the requirement to submit should be reduced or suspended until appropriate accomidations can be made.

(gasp for air....)

One sentance, long but only one :-P
