I hope this is the right place to post this.

Steve Hill, who many here know as Pawdrix,

and I are organizing two separate GTG/workshops on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, in New York City. Each workshop will start with a Meet-and-Greet (including drinks) at the famous Gaslight Tavern, followed by introductory remarks by Steve and Ursula, and a hands-on shooting instruction photo-walk with discussion/Q&As throughout. Both workshops will end at the Landmark Tavern in Hell’s Kitchen, where we will bring the days shoot to closure, producing some finished, edited images while enjoying the tavern’s excellent food and drinks.

Saturday’s workshop will be towards the evening hours, during the golden time when light is precious both for street photography and nature abstracts found in a big city. We will walk/make beautiful photos in New York’s Meatpacking District and in the Highline Park. Sunday’s workshop will take place earlier in the afternoon in Central Park.

More details (prices, times, meeting place, and so on) coming soon. In the meantime, if interested please contact Steve Hill or myself. I will be on a different trip with limited internet access for the next 10 days, so if I don’t answer right away, please don’t worry.

I think these workshops will be a fun learning experience and a wonderful social get together for all participants. Thank you for reading and considering this.

Sigh. Can't believe it's almost 2 years ago already since the last one. (thought I recognised that photo of Steve!)

I've never been to one of these so definitely a maybe. New York in June is very tempting.

I'm assuming this is a paid workshop? You'll be charging people for it? As opposed to a friendly GTG?

I enjoyed the friendly get-together last time.... definitely would be up for that again!

I will wait to hear more details. Not sure if I could pull off such a trip in that time frame- but sounds like fun!

Oh MAN, Assuming I could even afford to fly out, that is the say my Mojave show opens. So wish I could join you. Have fun!

I think I have a prior commitment that weekend (might involve the Mojave) but if you guys do this again, give us a wee bit more advance notice! I'd love to visit again.

I did a book, too! (And now conveniently available in eBook format for you Apple types.)

Yes, it is a paid workshop, but it is friendly too :)

Oh, come on, Brent! This one's way cheaper than the Patagonia thing, waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy! You could come with a friend or so, bring me some good coffee too (since I've never been to NYC, I don't know if they have good coffee or not). :)

Another book, cool! Thank you for posting. I'm getting a pretty good idea by now of what I got myself into! :)

I SO wish I could go to this. For one thing, I really want to get back to New York! For another, I've yet to meet Ursula. And that Steve guy is OK to hang with, too. (Seriously, he was an AWESOME host for our last get-together.)

But I'll be on a bus heading out into the middle of the Mojave desert, on purpose. (Yeah, I know, head examined and all that, but Johanna has a show out there. Go figure.)

For those of you in the general vicinity, or perhaps planning a trip in this time frame, it would be worth your while to check this out. There is a meet-up page:

Learn Street Photography with Steve and Ursula

Check it out!

Curious since this is a paid workshop how exactly will you stop someone from simply "tagging along" without paying? Or will Steve's thugs be present?

Don't know 'bout Sreve, but mine will, all 7 of them, yep! :-)
[just kidding]

Seriously, if someone just tags along, I have no idea what anyone would do. They certainly would miss out on the intros/drinks at the beginning, and also on the food/drinks/editing and talking about stuff at the end. And they probably would feel kinda stupid trying to tag along, I suppose.

Why do you ask? Is that your plan? :)

I'll actually be "around" that weekend, but couldn't commit to a structured, day-long event. If there's a more casual component to this, I'd certainly be interested. I've met no DPCers to date.

Damn I've got a friends wedding on Sunday and I'm not around on Saturday.

I find myself in NYC, or the availability to be there greatly improved of late. I always think of pm'ing members to late.

Way cheaper than the Patagonia trip I'm sure Ursula ;) It does indeed sound like a lot of fun, but I don't think I can pull it off :( Hopefully you guys will do the same thing next year and with a longer term notice I might be able to do it.
Oh I'm sure Steve will be able to point you in the direction of some great coffee roasted right there in NYC. It certainly won't be at a Starbucks! :P
