OK, soCal types - are we going to have our own GTG, or do we want to make a radical road trip and join the noCal folks? If we do a soCal gathering, where do we want to meet? LA or SD? Thoughts?

Death Valley!

Road trip sounds like fun but it would leave me out ;^( Otherwise, I'm open to anything!

Seeing as there only seems to be 2 active members in Arizona, can I tag along , if I can make it?

As long as you keep your gear out of the ocean!

Aww well crap, that is the deal breaker, I am off to Texas!!! hehehe

Death Valley in January has possibilities. Campsites? I can steal a motor home....

Death Valley...Love this idea, Ben! This location has been on my "to do list before I die" for a long time.

Since I'm entirely clueless when it comes to camping or motor homes, here's another idea:

Stovepipe Wells

My schedule is tight though. Not sure what time I can get for vacation.

It would be a weekend (Jan 14-15) - can you get some time off on the weekend??

Okay...let me see what I can work out...;-)

OK - do we have a mild consensus on Death Valley?? Dale, are you willing to go that far?
11/18/2011 01:23:44 AM · #12
Yes. Mild consensus, but it is a 6 hour drive. Tough for a two day weekend.

Isn't that actually a three day weekend? Martin Luther King day? Do the kids get that off from school? Or is that a weekend later?

Definitely of interest, but logistically challenging. I think Dale has a pupster he must consider arranging for, or bringing with (which would be fabulous). He did say he couldn't do out-of-town, but I don't want to speak for him. Dates look ok for us.

Yes, that is MLK weekend with Monday as a holiday.

I can work out the 12-14, but I'll have to bow out of the 15-16.

Hey soCal kids.... since it seems Death Valley might be a desert too far, what other ideas might we have? Do we have consensus on a day?
01/06/2012 12:06:40 AM · #17
I'm open to anything. The pupster can now be left alone!...yay! Weekends would be best.

I have a dentist appt on the 14th at 11. After that, I'm open to anything. You guys want to try for Pt. Dume in Malibu? I know Matt has taken ribbon-winning images there. Ideally, it would be somewhere that could satisfy both landscape and people photogs...

If we do Malibu, Saturday is best.

Too chatty.

How about Malibu followed by a bit more populated/street kinda location, preferably not far from Malibu? How early do folks want to start? Or do we want an afternoon/evening kind of thing?

Players?

Dale, Deb, Johanna, Ben, Mae? Others?

Matt.

If we do it Saturday, I wouldn't be able to go until after noon. Could be an afternoon at the beach followed by dinner somewhere..?

Malibu is good, and Saturday works well.
