Hi,

I want to create a presentation with a large number of photos, preferably in .avi format and I'm looking for a software which could handle that. I'm mostly interested in easy organization, nice transitions and so on. I tried Photo Story 3 but I'm not really satisfied with the outcome.

Do you know a better alternative?

Thanks.

Might be something to be found in the freebie software thread, but I don't recall offhand.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just want to know if there's a better software than the one mentioned. Be it free or paid it doesn't matter. :)

Do you want it to play continuously as a movie, or advance frame-by-frame like a slide-show, and if the latter, do you want them to advance automatically or manually?

For movies, my only real experience is with Adobe Premiere, which is pro-level video software; you could also use iMovie or Final Cut Pro on Macs.

If you want a slide-show, I think you can use IrfanView (free, Windows). If I want to advance pages manually, I save the pages as PDFs and assemble them with the full version (not Reader) of Adobe Acrobat.

Doesn't Lightroom 3 do slideshows?

I'm waiting to hear more details about the project, but the original request was for .avi format, which AFAIK is a video format only, though a video can be a programmed slideshow by setting a custom duration for each image to play.

Several people in our photo club use ProShow Gold for their slideshows. There's a free trial available to see if it does what you want.
