It may be TRUVIA

I started using two packets a day of a new sugar sub about 4 days ago. About three days ago I started to feel like I was having a bad spring day allergy attack. I'm allergic to the basics...ragweed...pine pollen...etc. However, my allergic symptoms are accompanied by neck, shoulder and back pain and an overall feeling of "flu symptoms". I have also had cramps and "other" bathroom problems...if you get my meaning !

I'm up now and was about to make some sleepy time herbal tea and as soon as I picked up the Truvia, I stopped cold ! Uh Oh....I looked it up on the net and came across several pages of side effects similar to mine !

I have been drinking this tea for about two years with NO side effects except sleepiness so I'm pretty sure it is not the tea. However, the Truvia is a different story. I may also be a combination of Truvia and the tea.

Oh well, I drank the tea WITHOUT a sweetener. And will go back to sleep in a bit.

I'll let you know what the next two days bring.

Truvia? Have not heard of that. I use about 1/2 packet of Splenda or Aspartame in my coffee, but have not been using a sugar sub beyond that.

It's fairly new. After my symptoms clear up from NON use, I'm going to try it again to see what happens.

Wouldn't surprise me that the Truvia is at the bases of on one hand your allergic reactions and on the other hand the sleeplessness. All those surrogate sugars contain often ingredients causing more trouble than actual sugar.
Check the "real" ingredients if you can find them. They have to add something to give you the impression your tea is as sweet as with real sugar.
Anyway, as you say: try it again within 1 week and see what happens. If the symptoms are coming back, than you can be sure.

Heh, just a note for everyone. Truvia is a plant extract - I've grown the plant (looks like a mint plant), and I can tell you that the leaves are like pure saccharine... Very strange.

Yes, but it is processed and contains other things and the way it is processed creates ingredients that can cause problems. Truvia ingredients include Erythritol, Rebiana, and natural ingredients. Continue your research on Erythritol and Rebiana, there are a lot of side effects with these ingredients.

About 4pm today will be 24 hours since my last hit of this stuff. Hopefully the half life is a short span.

Hopefully you will be feeling better soon, but sometimes they suggest that it can take three days for the body to clear something to which it is reacting.

Well I'm no longer blaming the sugar sub. I've been off of the sub for a few days. Symptoms stayed. Last night I actually had fever and the chills. Went to the doc today. Green gooey sinus and throat infection. Got meds.

However, I usually try to fight off any minor sickness on my own. I didn't quite make it a week because it seems to have been getting worse.

After all clears up, I'll try the sub again to see what happens.
