Quite surprised to see it this high after going to bed with a 4.5. This might be the high point. Hoping more for comments than score, however.

This is my first Free study so I dont know how the voters are with this but I am quite happy with that score....escpecially as my first vote was a 4 and I know it is worth more than that!

An important DPC lesson, once again played out...

Don't shoot for a FS on the last day of the month unless you have to.
Don't edit the FS shot after being out in the sun all evening doing the shoot. when your eyes are tired at 1130pm.
Don't increase the contrast on your edit until you beat the crap out of the shot...

Rather...
Sit out, don't enter, and vote and comment instead.

I just wish I would have remembered this lesson before I hit submit.

Don't try very hard to shoot something that you think DPCers will like and enter it with hope. NEVER do that. Ever. And yet I do it over and over and over again. Is that not the definition of stupidity or something?

I think that everyone should stop reporting their votes until they can do it the right way like NiallOTuama does.

The old way is just lame now by comparison;)

I agree fully with what you say here but in this FS I did exactly those things you mention one should not do and surprisingly my entry is doing much better then I could ever have hoped for. So far at least.

Procrastinatingovercontrastinator is actually my real name. Doesn't fit on forms, though, so I go by bohemka.

I was really thinking 5.3 on this one, and that I'd be able to come here and complain that at least I like the shot.

Wow. That is low for you. Are you dipping your toe into blurry, posthumous, abstraction or is your subject matter getting up some peoples noses again i wonder.

Me, i've gone with something that is not my usual image at all. Far more DPC friendly i think. It'll probably end up a boring middling score with no comments then.

I had two shots that I really liked. One that I loved, and one that I thought would have broader appeal (but that I was very proud of).

I went with the broader appeal. (I thought)

I was positive that it would be in the 6.4 range.

The problem is: I'm not sure what lesson I've learned. Should I have gone with the one that I loved best and to heck with the score? Or should I be incredibly happy that I didn't go with the one I loved since it probably would have been trounced? (sometimes I get way too involved with a photo and really don't want to see it slapped around. Seriously, if I'm this disappointed with a shot of which I'm very proud -- I probably wouldn't deal well with a shot with which I'm in love. :D

Ah well... such are the vicissitudes...

I think she meant how'd you know who the user is. Maybe not though.

If you're on windows you could use the program that's in my signature to record the scores. Then you can do things like:

if you want to.

Hey, at least your 6.4 image is at 5.9. My 6.4 is only at 5.5.

Yup. And falling every minute. I'm starting to think they're right. Lots of 4s and 5s. I'm really wondering what's wrong with it. It's only 32 votes into it, but there's obviously something I'm missing. I wish I knew what it was...
