Gorgeous shot scored high from me - congrats on the PB!!!

I'm not going to complain about my score because it finished right in the general area I thought it would before entering it. I went with something I care passionately about that's not related to family members (nothing worse than a low score on your child or grandchild!). Some people got it, some didn't. Some liked it, some didn't. That's ok.

I will happily complain about this scoring a 5.3 :-(

Quite a shock after all of my similar ideas scored above a 6 in other challenges.
I had several other 'more normal' photography entries that I guess I should have entered because I know they would have scored higher.

you should have cropped the left structure out to a square format. That would've been a truly standout shot, IMO (not too late to do it now for yourself :)).

Mine did well enough, coming in with a 5.75, though I had hoped to see a low 6 out of it. I selected this one because I thought both the widangle portrait and a serving of quirkiness suited my style. Got consistently good feedback from the handful of folks I showed my potential entries to. Comments suggest that some people voted lower because they didn't like the creepy eyes. I felt that was the touch that MADE the shot. I was quite pleased and flattered to get a fave from Mephisto.

Extremely disappointed with the fact that it got 58 5's. And I was at least hoping for somewhere around 5.9/6..

Would that not have taken away from how the original image is viewed though? (against the rules) I do have an outtake with only the tracks, I'll upload it in the next couple of days on the outtake thread.

You are right though, I hid the left structure behind my hand on the monitor and it looks fantastic in the square format. Thanks for your thoughts :)

I agree with Lev. Cropping off the left side does make a stronger image to my eye.

Cropping is completely legal to remove anything that you don't want in all challenge categories. the removal of major items clause involves using other tools. For example, if you had cloned out the structure to just make more sky, then that would be illegal.

A similar image, admittedly stronger, finished 4th for me in the October Free Study

I voted it higher because it had less context, and therefore was a more disorienting and mysterious image. It was interesting. Add more context and it just becomes another image of billboards in nyc (even though I like the processing).

Odd man out here. I like it very much WITH the structure on the left, though a square crop without it is also a nice picture, but completely different. Hence, you have two great shots from one frame. Quite a bargain!

Can I complain about hi scores? Ducking now...:)

Seriously, many images deserved better score than my entry

I did a lot worst then I thought I would, and got few comments. But very grateful for those who did.
jjstager2 Ja-9 and of course hotpasta

Also to those I did comment on, I meant no harm. I made suggestion on almost every photo I commented on. This is because I my self enjoy other points of view. I am by no means a pro and could be wrong in every case, but these are just my thoughts. I will admitted for some that I left suggestion I had to really look for them, but this in no way took away from the score.

Congrats to all who partook.

I don't know...I guess in any other challenge I might be apt to complain about my score, but with the caliber of the competition I was pretty happy with 80th place:

Can't disagree with you on any of these (not necessarily that they should have out-scored you). Especial LevT's

That thing looks straight out of National Geographic!

My only complaint is that this was the lowest I've scored in a "Best Of" challenge - 5.7074

I think I had a pretty good year on DPC too so I probably had shots that could have done better in this challenge in the pile some where.

typical dpc voter would think it was "washed out." I gave it an 8.

Well, if you keep posting "similar ideas" they will lose their luster... not as fast as I would like, but it will happen, even here.

wow cut her some slack man, everyone finds something they enjoy and like to shoot. a lot of people think i enter too many shots of sofia, but i wont quit, we work well together and shes a great model. fiora found something she enjoys, mixing the creativity of drawing and photography. i like your pov and much of your work, but i would submit you are not the "dean" of creative photography
