trying to vote but images aren't loading, all other site functions work. anyone else having this problem?
02/15/2011 10:21:53 AM · #154
I've reached the point where I just keep bouncing between 5.95 and 5.97.

How annoying is that? I just can't seem to get over that hump.

Nope - tis a little slower in loading but still loads. Hope it clears up for you.

My score gained ground and now is sliding again - I just don't get it.

Anyway taking my time and as usual leaving long comments so it is slow going.

I've not had any problems with any site since switching to OpenDNS. OpenDNS (it's free!) is more reliable and more trustworthy than Google Public DNS (also free!). YMMV

you averaged a 9.7 between votes 50 and 60 and a 1.8 between votes 60 and 70? I find that truly hard to believe.

Sigh, at this rate, pretty much any other image I had to choose from would have scored better.
With each extremely nice glowing comment, the score seems to drop a little more.

Agreed. Here's the math:

50 x 6.1 = 305 total points at 50 votes
60 x 6.7 = 402 total points at 60 votes

402 - 305 = 97 points differential in 10 votes

97 / 10 = 9.7 average score received for those 10 votes... that's nine 10s and a 7...

It's basically not possible to climb that high that fast...

Then there's the reversal, it likewise is almost impossible to drop that far that fast. 18 points in 10 votes is eight 1s and two 5s... (or seven 1s, a 2, a 4, and a 5, whatever... but there's only one way to get 97 points in 10 votes...)

R.

I am just recording my score as it's happening. I also don't understand it at all.

It didn't say it wasn't true, I just said I found it hard to believe. It must be a very polarizing image, because that's going to be one hell of an inverse bell curve at the end.

No I didn't use a polarizing filter ;)

you rated 426 of 426 entries (100%)

What an excellent group of images! I will go through again and hopefully again and leave more comments. There are several great photos and a few even better than that -

I have entered this challenge with an image that is a personal fav to me but still of a reasonably high standard.
It's not scoring highly and I didn't expect it to but it is a strong image in it's own right.

I am currently voting and commenting on the challenge (hoping to get through all of them but not all with comments)

I am voting on these images with the view that this is that persons 'Best Image' for last year(leaving a little room for personal fav images).

I must admit that I'm a little stumped by some of them. No need for shoehorns in this one as you can submit any image you shot for the whole 2010 year and some have submitted ... well ... um .... THAT. Hmmmmm

This was indeed a wonderful gallery of images to go through!! So many superb photos, and I think my highest average ever as a voter!
