Watch out, I think I just saw one of VaWendy's Bluebirds, and it looked hungry.

This is actually my son's roach. He lives in the Seattle area with his mom and came down to Oklahoma last summer. He went to a Cherokee camp and I guess one of the classes they had were about these roaches. So he brought one home with him. Of course his mom had a fit and said he can't keep it, so I kept it for him. Best pet we have. The dogs and cats tear the house apart, the turtles and fish require so much maintenance, but the roach, he just sits there. Throw him a little food and water and that's it.

Oh, you said Pet Roach! I thought you were talking about the Brit wrestler and bit actor from the late '70s, Pat Roach:))

You know, they tend to be photophobic, so if you set one on your chest, it will just duck it's head and stay there...

One day in college, I borrowed one of the hissing roaches from the entomologist and wore it as a "roach pin" to my 101 bio class...

Needless to say, the professor asked me not to do it again, but was quite amused with the effects.. What I found funniest was that the initial reaction was almost universally disbelief followed by shock..

Beetles are hugely popular in Japan as pets during the summer. Kids are so keen to collect them.
Personally, I like to take photos of dragonflies, but this year there extremely few around compared to, say, three years ago. (The same goes for mosquitoes, apparently.) It's a bit of a worry, really.

He would make a great toy for my cat. Send him my way!
