I want to enter this challenge not with a vertebrate animal picture but I am afraid of DNMC voters. The "animal" definition in WordNet-Online for an animal is :
"a living organism characterized by voluntary movement"
but Wikipedia warns :
"Frequently only closer relatives of humans such as mammals and other vertebrates are meant in colloquial use"

What do you think?

I think you think too much. Enter a baby animal photo.

Well if it's not a vegetable or a mineral then I reckon it's an animal.
However if you want to get a good score on here it will probably have to be fluffy and cute yawn.....

I teach biology, so you could enter a baby sponge, and you wont be DNMC'ed by me.

The difficulty though is that vertebrate animals, and especially mammals, have young that look young. It will be difficult to convince voters that what they are looking at is a baby jellyfish as opposed to an adult jellyfish. Id love to see someone pull it off though.

The jellyfish diaper is the tipoff. ;-)

I'm looking forward to seeing some insect larvae (or something similar) to break up the nonstop puppies and kittens. I say go for it. But, yes, you may get creamed in voting. Sometimes it's worth it.

If baby considered "something always get wet"... than IreneM has a huge opportunity with smaller droplets.

I smashed a fly the other day and there were live young scattered about... I've beat myself up several times for not photographing the wreck for this challenge.....

Anything like that would cause a huge "Wet-screen-mess" due to uncontrollable puking and probably massive "1"s because there is no smaller number to vote.

That would definitely be worth it!

Oh man! Did not see the special rule... TOO COOL!

In spite of the special rule on the date limitations, I don't think I have any archive shots I like better than what I did yesterday.

Interesting. I hadn't noticed until I saw this in the thread. I just pulled out a shot I took last month to enter it. The submission page seems to be out of sync with the special rule, as it won't accept any dates outside of the past week.

I opened a ticket.

I think this has been addressed. Just enter a date within the submission week (like the date you enter) and put he actual date taken in the notes section.

Any response yet? I entered one from a few years ago and had the same problem but just changed it to todays date. I'm hoping that's okay.
