I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a
Recreating editing steps on famous photos or not so famous shots.
We all wish sometimes that we could get the look of certain photos and want to learn how to do it.
We could have two shots a week, and we try to emulate how they did it.
this way we could learn other techniques as well as hopefully learning how to edit differently.

I am going to keep bumping this as I think it really is a good idea
some are grumbling that we are not learning enough from this website so lets make the website work for us |

| I like the idea as post processing is a very weak area for me. How would you envisage the side challenge working? |

The way I see it working is this:
Everyone that signs up, can find one photograph that they would love to know how to do. We put them into a pool and randomly pick out 2 or 3 a week.
We then give it our best shot on trying to emulate the post processing. |

| I would love to learn some of the way that some photos are processed. I know of a couple already, just have to find them from the challenges. |

Right, been trying to work out the logistics of this and it is not working out as easily as i thought it would.
Finding a photograph is easy. But trying to find a photograph that we can actually edit on is turning into a nightmare.
So open for suggestions.
one i thought of was to find a photograph from here, then ask the original owner if we could use their unedited photograph. Just not sure how willing they would be, so any suggestions would be welcome at this point.
Cos I still think this would be a great idea. |

The problem with originals is that if they are shot in RAW any editing work may require the original RAW file. I don't believe those can be posted on DPC, so an external site may be the option for storage of originals. I believe Google has an option, if not, I can open part of my domain for a group share.
Perhaps, looking through the past 10 - 20 challenges, an email could be sent out to the photographers of the top 10 asking if they would like to participate. Perhaps their image doesn't need to be the actual one, but another from their portfolio.
Those that wish to participate could act as the M.C. and be open to hints about how they edited theirs in case people get stuck.

This is a cool idea, I like it. Some of the processes I use now I do because I saw them in well known images and tried to duplicate the style. |

here is a good starting point to learn from. //www.atncentral.com/] then click on frames, then click on out of frame.
it is an atn file, and it gives you instructions on how to do it. but then you can study the history and learn how to go further from that,
