I did a quick search but didn't see any suggestions for it before.

I'm a non-member and am quite tempted to go for membership but I normally like to try things out before I invest. I think it might push registered users to membership after a free trial at membership for a week or so.

I say this selfishly cause I'd like to try it out before I go in. But I think it'd be a good one-off free membership option for every registered user.

Thoughts?

Edit: Maybe a restricted membership where you don't have a portfolio. Entrability to the member competitions might be interesting too.

$25-00 for a year...hmmm....let me see, that is about 48cents a week. Hmmm...a cup of coffee is $4-50...oh right...that is 5.55 cups of coffee....that might last 50 minutes (depending how cold they are). But instead...you can get a year of advice, education, laughter, tears, knowledge for the same money.....hmmmm...now which one do I go for????

I don't know.....you tell me!!! :)

Haha.
I can't argue with that logic.

So they are.

Ye're totally peer pressuring me into it. Maybe check my profile later.

I still think it's a good idea, though.

A very wise member once explained DPC comparable to a coffee shop. Each table housing different personalities with different likes and discussions happening. Sometimes a food fight takes place...sometimes people get hurt in the throes....but there are always the ones that mop up the blood and bandage the wounds....only to resume their places back at their table and watch the TV hanging in the corner as the Logies (or entries in this case) roll through. Each person with their own opinion on each of the entries, sometimes causing arguments or lengthy discussions on where the entry could have been improved.

Those people get up and leave at will to continue with their life....but they will always generally return to their little coffee shop on the corner. Where friends meet, friendships are made and discussions lead to entertainment.

Yup....coffee rules the world.

you can get a year of advice, education, laughter, tears, knowledge - Judi

what more needs to be said?

fwiw i'm against the month trial idea. there's been an apparent issue with "ghost" accounts in the past i think this would magnify that problem. i went month to month for 6 months before diving in. have a friend use their paypal account or make one if you wanna try it for a month.

What happens to the accounts if we don't renew them? I mean portfolios etc.

They are hidden...but I believe (and I am not sure of the length of time for this) if you renew your membership, the portfolio becomes visible again, still with the images you uploaded prior to the lapse of membership.

This is so. I've done it.

I did two months at $5.00 to check it out and then decided to get the year membership. Thats how I did the "trial" membership. I think the ease of storage and the extra challenges are well worth the small yearly fee.

Also .. don't forget .. as members you can also utilize DPCPrints.com and set your images up to sell as prints ... and make money from it ... and if it goes well .. your DPCPrints commissions can keep paying for your DPChallenge memberships :)

Yeah. I was given a year's membership trial! Just $25. It's good to see they listen here.

I still think it's a good idea.

It was totally Judi's fault. She used a coffee analogy. 5 cups of coffee... what possibly logic can you use against that?

Coffee keeps you up while DPC keeps you down, haha. ;P
