I posted this a few days ago and, much to my delight, it's already been viewed over 1000 times. What puzzles me is why this one is being looked at so much when many of the others in my portfolio (which have been online much, much longer) aren't.

I'd appreciate any insights.

I dont know why, but I does have that almost 3d effect on it. You must have shot it at a high DOF. Very well done.

LoL I take that back, you shot it at F4.5. Must have done something in post to give it that surreal look

something like tumblr I bet. One of mine is allll over the place from that. It's all just linked though (for mine) so if anybody clicks on it it just brings them to here.

Crazy, huh?
There are some other folks on here that have images that are like that, some WAY more than that. Sometimes a random image just really resonates with people. It was interesting to see everybody's comments when they'd repost it on tumblr and all the similar sites. It brought tons and tons of different reactions, the full spectrum of emotion. Probably one of the most interesting and enlightening moments I've gotten from photography. Really made me realize the gamut of impact that our work can have on people, even something so innoculous as my dog jumping in snow...

Holy crap! I didn't eve know there was a listing like that.
Also, that's a pretty phenomenal tally you got there, Ken.

So, how long did it take you to get it up to that Ken?

You know that refreshing the image page adds a view don't ya? ;)

Try it out.

Yeah, I know that, but it doesn't work on your own images - unless you logout I guess. Anyway what would be the point of doing that? This one got picked up on some site and got 78k in the first 3 days after voting - that's when someone brought it to my attention. Frankly, it's not one of the ones I would prefer on the most viewed list.

I just added another view to your tally. You have to admit that that image is hilarious.

I know Ken, I was just teasing you. Not enough smilies, eheh. I'm drunk.

So now you have the two most viewed non-ribbon winning photos of all time. You even beat out DrJOnes, which is like some kind of mathematical improbability.

It's still going up.

If it is linked to another site, is there a way to find out where?
07/14/2010 07:18:45 PM · #18
Well, it seems that either the other site hotlinked the image (embedded this specific image from the original URL) or the site's not popular enough to be included in the massive TinEye database. So there's no direct way of finding out what site has it. I guess just search around...
