I'm a little surprised at what seems to be largely generous voters, but not complaining!

Well mine just broke into the 5s.

Is there any shame in a self-DQ? What was I thinking?
06/01/2010 09:05:58 AM · #79
Dropped a little overnight. I knew a 6+ that early on was too good to be true. Still doing good for a FS.

1. there's no shame in a self dq, but if you get another dq with something like 25 challenges, you're suspended for a week. I know a couple of people who have been burned by self dq'ing, and then having a date or original problem with another challenge.

2. It's really early in the voting. High scores can't count on high scores and low scores can't count on low scores this early in the process. Anything can happen.

Anything can happen! I want to post this now, cos it's pretty good for me & it'll probably drop a lot before voting ends.

Honestly very disappointed and quite frankly pretty stumped at the bad score for my entry. I personally feel it is one of my nicest entries ever yet the score is just abysmal and has gone up and down between 5.6000 and 4.5000. Are the low voters perhaps people with badly calibrated monitors or bad eye sight or what? I really don't understand this at all.

Nah don't DQ. After the first day of being all upset, the second day you just sorta get into the mind thinking of , prrffftt ok. At least that is the way with me. Funnily enough, yesterday i was looking through all my challenge entry's and reading the comments. The ones with the terribly low scores, I read with interest. They where spot on with their comments and as I had grown as a photographer I agreed with them

as much as we hate our low scores and terrible pictures, trust me, in 6 months you will look at the work and agree with that score.

I'm looking at it now and agreeing with it. : - ) Seriously, what the hell was I thinking yesterday when I submitted it? Perhaps I should leave it in and wear it as my own personal badge of shame.

I have had several of those Larry. I think I have the perfect picture and BAM, I am cut down to size in 12 hours. The first 12 hours, i grumble and moan and think i am a misunderstood artist and everyone else is blind to my artistic brilliance.

Then I go to bed, wake up and re-look at the shot and cringe in embarrassment and walk around all humbled for the rest of the day lol

Been dropping like a rock from a really nice start lol. I guess the first voters were just "cherry-picking".

Still sliding back somewhat, just passed through 6.0. On the basis of the voting to date, I'm increasing my forecasted finish from 5.4 to 5.5.

My goal for this one is to finish above a 5. My other FS entries have been less then spectacular.

Im actaully happy with my score ; )
Compared to the art challenge, this one is doing much better, and I expect it to rise closer to a six before it's over. Im praying anyway. This is my person goal.

I'm at a 5.61 with 26 votes no comments. I was sure this image would be a 6.xxx with a 7.2 or above winning this contest. It seems everyone has been getting stomped so it's all realitive.

06/01/2010 11:20:52 AM · #97
Never self DQ because your score is not what you wanted/expected. I'd rather get a 2.xxx than self DQ.
