I think it's perfect. I like the transparent nature and how professional it looks.
Thank you Langdon.

Great. Now that this is almost done, can we have darker backgrounds to view our pics? Please. :D

The toggle will not be available on the final product.

If you click the image, it will toggle between the watermarked and non-watermarked option. I did this to make sure that quality was preserved.

How do you think you can stop anyone from hitting printscreen?

I was referring to the ability to toggle the watermark.

I the watermark is not toggle-able, it must always be dealt with if the person wants to rip it.

Still, if the toggle function is limited to paying users, that's probably going to accomplish its goal.

It looks like for now there will be a choice of black or white, with a couple of levels for each.
02/07/2010 07:25:55 PM · #8
Will there be an option for color in the watermark? The current example wouldn't show up well on challenges such as light on white or other images where there is a large amount of white space.

Thanks, Langdon. Good work.

I was told it will not be an overlay, but a display of the modified image file, to prevent both right-click downloads and print-screen copying. I don't know if there will be a way to see the un-modified image once the watermark's been applied unless the photographer chooses to remove it.

I second the exact sentiments.

I will probably never use it, but I still think it's a fantastic implementation of the idea.

Someone get Langdon an OOBIE!

Me also.

Cool stuff. On that test image link I was able to download the image with or without a watermark. I presume this will be a member only feature, non-members won't be able to click to view without watermark.

I like it, well done.

Ohhh, I see. I must've looked at it in those 3 minutes. It's very nice right now. Maybe a DPC logo right before the text? Or would that be too much DPC branding and not enough member branding?

i really like this and I'm glad you are moving forward. However I have some issues with the actual watermark, namely the placement. I think putting it in any of the corners is quite silly if someone is indeed trying to protect a photo. The center is thus the only option and this to me is too limiting. I would like to see a midpoint between the corners and the center as an option on all four sides. This way it cannot be cropped out and yet isn't slapping you across the face. Just my opinion.

I will likely go the extra mile and add padding options, if not direct placement of the watermark.

I agree with Beef about placement...if we can adjust that, then this is simply awesome! Thank you very much for addressing this very controversial issue. I am looking forward to this being a reality in the next few weeks so I can get back to fully participating in this great site!
