The underwater world is absolutely incredible. I always felt sorry for people who had never had an opportunity to see these wonders. I used to scuba dive in the days of film so, unfortunately with 36 exposures, I had no chance to take anything comparable with what is possible today, great photos.

New and re-issued books by Gordon Parks.

Two new books and one expanded edition of the photographs of Gordon Parks look at the work of the famed photographer from three decades of his career: the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Taken together, the books show that Parks’ humanistic commitment to exposing the effects of race and class in America never wavered.

Jack Delano's Color Photos of Chicago's Rail Yards in the 1940s

Originally posted by Linked Article:

Jack Delano was one of the photographers who worked in Roy Stryker’s Farm Security Administration photography program in the early 1940s, traveling the American countryside, photographing people and places with the stated goal of “introducing America to Americans.” In 1942 and ’43, Delano spent time in the rail yards of Chicago, documenting the busy freight hub and the countless workers who kept the trains running 24 hours a day. Some of his most striking images were made on Kodachrome color transparencies, wonderfully preserved in the Library of Congress today. Collected below, a handful of images from Chicago as it was some 75 years ago.

His work is in turns magical, surreal, dark, delightful. Sometimes a bit weird :) I think the child and cat in the china cabinet may be my favorite.

Interview with David Johnson, Ansel Adams' first African-American student.

Originally posted by Program synopsis:

African-American photographer David Johnson grew up in segregated Florida, and says his life changed the moment he moved to San Francisco to study with Ansel Adams in 1945. Johnson's photographs of San Francisco's African-American community in the 1940s and 50s, including the thriving jazz clubs in the Fillmore, captured a city and people in the midst of change. Johnson and his wife, Jacqueline Annette Sue, join us to talk about their new book on Johnson's photographs and his life, "A Dream Begun So Long Ago."

Some (if not all) Jill's pictures are shiny. I asked Frank Doorhof what kind of editor could do that kind of photos and his response was "No editor, just good lighting and some dodge and burn".

I am not sure... he is probably right since he is a light pro. However, I also wanted to ask here if there is any photo editor that can give that kind of shiny skin results.
