You'd be fine with that under the current Standard Editing Rules :-) While you're dipping your toes in this time around, just send a ticket to SC with any potential entries you're worried about and we'll help you make sense of it. The same applies to anyone, BTW: just don't do it 3 hours before deadline, you may not get an aswer in time.

I may have to look at all these new rules as I got a DQ many times in the past for not knowing those basic rules.
It's a LOT harder to get DQ'd now; we've done our best to eliminate the gray areas in the rules. Standard Editing, in particular (what used to be "Advanced") now lets you clone OUT pretty much whatever you want to, as long as you replace it with what would have been there if the object had not existed. No more gray area on "major" vs "minor" elements. And we're allowing the use of texture overlays from any source and date.
EDITED to add, 5 times later, that I am still working on how to link a site, hold on while I try another 500 times!

Welcome back. I' will have been here a year in March and am learning so much. I even know what a mirrorless camera is. I have made some very special friends on here. WELCOME and nice to meet you.

Not sure that I qualify as a DPC oldtimer (2011 recruit) but glad to see the renewed interest. Welcome back y'all!

Welcome back all! So nice to see some familiar faces back among us.

Welcome back. I myself have found my way back after nearly eight years away. Life/work conspired against me, but I'm back with something a little newer than the old D200 and shooting once again. Apparently, I learned nothing in my hiatus as my scores are still the same, lol!

Main goal this go-around is to just have fun and use the challenges as inspiration. Secondary goal is to be more gentle in my scoring of other's photos - - can't believe my average vote cast is below 5. We'll work that up over the next year. ;-)

Oh Lordy, I haven't even picked up the camera, it is sitting on my sideboard collecting dust (possibly bacon grease etc). I have been trying to do PS skills these last couple of weeks and it is NOT LIKE RIDING A BIKE, it is a whole new friggin bike that has all the old stuff (cus I never upgraded from CS5) and going, WTH is that button for. So I have been practicing my PS skills. Next week, I may get a ear cleaner bud and vaguely waft it over the camera whilst it glances vaguely at a dry martini. That and I had to get a new monitor as mine exploded in the best fashion soaked in Coca-Cola and Minecraft. So what I think may look okay, is probably horrible.

So I may ask if I can send a few edited pics to you all, to see if they are the right balance!!!

But it is so cool to see all the people here, that never left, or left and then came back. I may have to look at all these new rules as I got a DQ many times in the past for not knowing those basic rules.

Again, it is so good to see you all on here. xoxox

(But seriously, that LIKE Button that was argued about for years and years, Should be instated. And Bravo glad2badad you are gonna have to teach me that one!!! =P

But I'm finding out it's also pretty bad when you submit in the first day or two and have to wait two weeks for the first vote ... :-(

My cure for that is to torture yourself by second guessing your entry and coming up with better ideas everyday and then finally caving in and shooting your latest replacement idea with only two hours left and then bombing disastrously in voting, then showing your original entry in the outtakes thread and having everyone say "you should've entered that one - it's awesome."

I knew I shouldn't have left that playbook on the bus ... :-)

So after being absent for a while, (a long while, gave it up totally) my kids told me I needed to get back into photography. They are kinda right, seeing as I have no idea what a mirrorless camera is. So sneakily joined then saw that my friend Art had come back as well. Then kinda saw a lot of the old timer had come back as well. So I am an old timer, who has come back and has no idea what is going on!

So making my introductions again.

Hi!!

Your kids are right.

HI!!!

oh HI!!!!!
