For an open challenge during DPL where you have a minimum of 168 people on 24 teams that's kinda sad. And yes, I realize that 7-9 people cannot vote because they're on your team, but that's still ~160 people involved in the DPL that can vote. That's just a tick over 66% turnout, assuming no one not involved in the DPL voted. It's better than Presidential elections, but again, more than kinda sad.

Some people do not vote on challenges they enter out of principle (their own). Not saying I do that, but it's been mentioned in the forums before.

Personally, I'd love to see DPL team members votes all removed from the calculations for the DPL. Let their votes count toward site rankings, but only let the votes of non-players count toward the DPL. Would be fewer votes, but they'd be purer votes.

"Purer Votes" I want to laugh only because the idea what goes into the number people give and what doesn't has been a bone of contention for me since coming here, but I understand what you're saying. What would be interesting is to see the average vote of DPLers added to the list of averages calculated. It would either verify or put to rest whether or not votes really do change during the tournament.

I can also see why someone would think that they might vote differently in a challenge they've entered than one they haven't, but as is explained ad nauseum everytime the voting system gets discussed, variations in voting tend to work themselves out across the challenge, so if you're voting down because you're wanting your photo to do better (consciously or subconsciously) it's going to even out across the votes. And if you can't find it in yourself to offer your opinion in the form of a number, let alone a comment, maybe it's more than a little presumptuous to believe that you deserve the time spent by everyone else to evaluate yours?

We are seeing the same thing on our team - which probably just means some voters who dislike going to cemeteries even more than I do are wandering through. At least we are all in this together. And no matter how low the scores go, someone will win and someone will take home the brown :) And please don't start talking about the effect of the teams and league and strategic voting and all that because I simply don't believe it LOL

Good points, but I must say the overall scoring with these DPL rounds is absolutely brutal. I didn't expect to receive softballs, but the hardball to the groin is painful.

Watch what happens when the Pastel scores come in :)

You have commented on 42 images (23%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.8000.

A most fascinating and inspiring challenge.

Done.
You have rated 174 of 180 images (97%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 29 images (16%) in this challenge.

I'm sorry, but that was awful. I did give a couple 10's and 9's and some 7s and 8's. But it took me forever to vote. I couldn't stand it for more than about 10 minutes at a time. Different strokes . . .

Strange happenings, I had 6 comments yesterday, but now have 11 pretty good overall comments ( well except for that guy who.....well I better not say) and yet the score has hardly moved, unless everyone voted first then commented. Expect to fall mid pack. I did some more voting yesterday and added a few comments some really really good shots in there well done people.

Good Lord...I feel like my photo is representing Dante's Divine Comedy only backwards.

Instead of going:

Inferno
Purgatory
Paradiso

My score went from:

Paradiso
Purgatory
then Inferno

ok, as scores go this is seen as good but I had high(er) hopes for this shot (currently it won't be counting toward my DPL team score so guess that's good as well).

wtf, now at 43 votes and a 5.79 - you do the maths!

Same here, have dropped about .75 in 15ish votes

edit - it was in 17 votes

I know the feeling. I really need to focus more on the processing though. My scores are just not where they used to be. I start off good, but then it all just tanks.

I know I can, I know I can, I know I can!!!

Ha!

Not only was it awful to shoot for, it's awful to peruse.

There are some great images... I'm not saying they're bad... It's just that there are SO MANY photos of graveyards in there. Ha!

I know, left!

I feel like I'm doing genealogy research!

I've been doing some genealogy research lately... I got severely bored looking through all these. Very little creativity in these (and i'm including my own)
