They remind me of this one:

I had the same thought! but SDW has created his own vision of it, of course.

Thanks Don, great reminder that open minds and broadened horizons do start at home.

Love this entry from the juried contest. I can image Brian < bvy> sitting their getting his hair done, while watching the snow melt.

That's me. California Dreamin'.

What a collection. Totally intrigued by this (Third Prize winner):

This should be a nice break from the ubiquitous discussions of "how" to take a photograph and go a little ways toward "why" you take a photograph.

IMHO we take mostly about "how" because it is so much easier to define. "why" is the tough part.

That said a link to a few more contests for spring 2012 for those who are interested.

Here is a publication/organization devoted to photography:

//www.photoreview.org/index.htm

And here are the winners of their recent juried contest:

//www.photoreview.org/competition/portfolio.php/38/1

And here is a very nice interview of the winners with some talk about motivation and process:

WARNING: these "photographers" sound a lot like "artists."

This should be a nice break from the ubiquitous discussions of "how" to take a photograph and go a little ways toward "why" you take a photograph.
