A bit of a litteral interpretation, yep :)
But on the other hand, aside of depicting the spiral or suggesting its shape, the real classical practise of using it as a composing approach is far more complex, subtle and elaborated. When it's really well done, it works wonderfully but in almost undetectable way. Most of it is over my head and would require to analyse quite a few classics from Leonardo and the likes, so I am not surprised that more litteral approaches did better. Anyway, there were pretty good images both in the litteral rappresentations and the 'composed with' ones, including yours, so I am quite happy of what I have seen :)

That thing dropped like a sack of tatters. I still won't complain about the final score I got but I still wanted that 7.7 I went to sleep with the first night. Lol.

Oh, sorry :) I'll make up for it after the closing then ;)
In reality, I am not too worried about people complaining about criticism.
There are plenty of sites on the internet which encourage a 'praise only' policy and, as you say, comments on DPC are generally appreciated.
However, I would so much prefer to know in advance whether comments/criticism on a specific image are welcome or not.
A 'criticism welcome and appreciated' option upon submission, as suggested by yo_spiff (link), or even simply putting a suffix to the image title ("my image title - Criticism Welcome") would be so useful I think.
It would save me time commenting while avoiding hurting people sensibility, and also hopefully get me some useful criticism from people who refrain from commenting for fear of offending.

You missed mine, but that's alright. You've commented more than most. I wouldn't worry about a 'few disgruntled comments back". Comments are, overall, appreciated.

uhh, no comments is pretty annoying.
I have done my best for commenting on many, seems like I missed yours, maybe I can have a look after the closing.
You have rated 108 of 108 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 59 images (54%) in this challenge.

Even like this I am slightly worried I might receive a few disgrunted comments back :)

I'm a bit disappointed that I've had no comments, voting has been slow as well, I only just broke 100 votes today. Score in the 5s. I've voted on all the other entries and left some comments, will do some more tomorrow as well.

Yeah, that's an odd combination of stats. I'm curious to see which entry is yours as well as the vote spread too.

Hemm, I got quite a few encouraging comments and two favorites! Good stuff..
I am hoping this one is collecting good votes and horrible ones with not much in the middleground, which is quite a good thing compared to 'yawn, 5, let's see the next one'

I think I'll pester my commenters with requests of opinions on the outakes and alternative crops, so ungrateful of me :D
Looking forward to see the distribution and the winners, there were quite a few interesting images in a potentially really boring challenge.

Yes, please do. Ever since the debate about whether the entries in this challenge fit within people's perception of what the Golden Ratio is, my score has been plummeting. I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find it at 6.7 at 25 votes, but now it went to 6.3 with only a few more votes. It appeared that a few people went back and lowered their votes :(

This surely happened because I experienced the same. It is not completely fair to say what is right and what is wrong in the entries. My entry is not amazing but has (IMHO) a good idea... now it's a little under 6.

Well, it's only fair to report the good news as well...over the last couple of days my score slowly climbed back to where it started:

Like... Really?

This just the natural progression of an aggregated voting the more votes you get the more reflective it is of your average....

Yay I've had 1 vote : 10 (thnx mum ;)) lol then 120 votes your on 5.6 its just a better metric as more data in it

There alot of entries in here that didn't understand the golden rule let alone the voters, I gave 1x1 but also gave a 10 (rare for me) to a cracking pic

No, it was a free study shot. Anyway, I don't believe in that. I think people read way too much into things. The variations seem to happen regardless of whether or not there are debates raging. And I think anytime there's a topic that confuses people enough that they start debating what it means, well that topic is going to generate polarized voting whether or not the debate occurs.

The threads don't CAUSE the voting fluctuations; they're just another visible manifestation of polarization, exactly as the erratic votes are.

Ok I guess you've been here from the start so you would know better than anyone else. Thanks for the reply.

Not even close. I had one once that was over 8 after 20 votes and finished under 5.5 -- that has to be the worst.
