Now, can we turn off our top row on our profile page? Mine has not changed for two years or so, and I'm really really really tired of it. Can we set a preference so we don't have to see it anymore? Replace it with the last five challenge entries or something?

Just a thought!

You can't turn off your top row but what you want to do is already added to the site:
Found under [MY HOME -> MY PREFERENCES] Lower left corner of screen

You may select up to 10 photographs from your portfolio (including challenge entries) that will show on your profile page. However, users will only see N number of images, where N is the value of their "Images Per Row" preference (to the right).

Show the most recently uploaded images

------------------------------------------------

Now if you want I can add a script that hides the actual top row of your photos which would be your challenge photos but it would only be local on your machine. Everyone else would see it. Send me a message and let me know.

Moons before me it was ubique who suggested the change. He also came up with the disturbing idea of placing the undesirable top row photos in the 'nude gallery' so they don't show when not logged in. Troublemaker, he is.

You're not allowed to do that. People have put non-nude pics in the nude gallery before and they were told by SC not to do it.

Huh? Only the first 3 are that old; most of the the rest of 'em (I see 9 total) are like 2010, 2011...

Hmmm... Never thought of that....

Yes, but some folks use it for new uploads, and it rotates daily, etc.

Karen, what about having it as a preference? You can always sort by score if desired. I would love to choose my five personal favorites for a first impression.

Members already have a 2nd row where you can display any of your photos.

Can I remove a few? :)

I don't think it does... Sometimes it's called progress. Others, change for the sake of change. Occasionally it's called a bad idea. But it seldom stops. ;-)

I'd love to be able to sort images in my portfolio easier as well.

But I still don't agree to turning off your top row or changing it.

Actually, I'd be willing to pay $50 for the year (at least once) if someone would make the "sort" function easier. When I load stuff that's been in my workshop to my portfolio, it often sets itself in there randomly, rather than chronologically. To use the sort bit takes forever if the folder has a lot of stuff in it! There's gotta be an easier way....

And I still vote for "top row past 12 months" for the old geezers....

i would keep the four high scores on the top row, but allow the user to substitute one of them for a favorite. Title it user favorite instead of putting the average score.

Definitely! Let's trade!

The option of "top row this year" is a reasonable one. Those of us who've been here entirely too long and really don't evolve much simply can't do much about their top row. It gets old.

Julianne, that's because you've never been a prostitute, so have nothing to be ashamed of in your top row. I want my public persona to be that of a virgin and not the whore I am. I honestly am more interested in a photographer's favorite photos and not the general public's opinion. It should be an option... nothing mandatory.

Steve, you're too kind. But you are right about my not shooting for the score. I like to shoot the best photo I can based on the topic. Still, there is endless space in the biography section to post the photos you would like to represent you, and that area is seen before the top row.

Yes please! My own top row is mostly embarrassing crap that represents everything that I have come to dislike about photography (of course, I could probably say that about nearly everyone's top row). The point is that almost everyone has much better, more interesting, more inspirational and more durable work in their portfolio, or among their lower scoring challenge images, than is represented in their 'top row'. When I look at someone's profile page I'd like to see where they are going, rather than where they've been.

Not a compulsory thing of course; those who wish to stay where they have been should be able to do so.

I like the quick view of the photographer's top rated photos. The second row already can be configured to show the photog's favorite images, and there is already the capability to post photos on your profile page that you'd like to represent your work. I opt for keeping the top row the way it is.

Yes, please! I'd much prefer to see each photographer's favorites and how they want to be represented. Let the photographer pick the top row. Also, add an option to replace those tacky ribbons on the left with posthumous ribbons.

If you want to view a photogs highest scores you only have to click on the 'down arrow' next to 'Avg' in the top column. (btw... it's interesting to click on the 'down arrow' next to 'Favs' and compare it to the corresponding score column.)
