And thank you for the link. Very helpful indeed- looks like they are definetly offering lower than what I should be asking. At shows I've sold 8x10's for 60-80, 5x7's for 40 or more depending on the print.

Okay I have heard back from her but I'm still not convinced it's legit. I sent an email back

I got this in an email from a second person
Hi There:
Georgia Ridenhour passed your contact information on to me. I am writing to get more information about possibly using your photography in the next issue of the Harper Traveler Magazine. We would definitely be interested in getting some photos of ........., we could pay $50 for each image we use on the inside and $200 if we use an image on the cover. Please send me your phone number so we can talk about the details tomorrow. I look forward to speaking with you!
Best,
Kelley

Bear in mind that if she wants to publish the pictures in a magazine, the deliverable isn't a print, it's an electronic file.

this is a great tool for getting a ballpark idea for pricing. you'll also need to ask your contact what her budget is for these images. if it's reasonable and acceptable, awesome!

if she doesn't really want to pay, then pass. it's really not worth it to give your stuff away.

there was a site with help on this... now where was it? it based a lot on circulation numbers, size of the image and things like that.

I was just contacted by a travel magazine wanting pictures of a nearby town for their magazine. I don't know if this is a serious inquiry or not and will only be dealing with them through my actual website so as not to lose anything- they will have to order prints directly from the website.
My question is, how much to charge? The lady that emailed me is wanting 2 to 3 pictures of this town- tourist town on the water. I've sold prints in the past at art shows, but nothing like this. Any suggestions?
