Hi all

Well, we spent hours trying to write our own website with the help of a few friends on DPC. However after loads of evenings at the computer we gave up!!

Instead we signed up at www.onilinepictureproof.com and had the whole thing written within 12 hours. Better still it is dead simple to upload new shots and sell photos direct from the site.

Before we announce ourselves to the unsuspecting British public it would be great if we could get some feedback from our friends on the contents. After all I am dyslexic and Will is just old! so I am sure that the site is full of errors that neither of us can see.

Thanks in advance for your help

Looks nice guys!

My only real nitpic is this... i had to scroll up and down on a few of the text/picture overlay pages in order to read the entire text. Is there a way to adjust sizing? I'm using Chrome browser FYI.

I really liked your home page slideshow--I thought the motorcycle racing pic was a bit out of place, but that market may be one of your targets!

Thanks Mark

Yes the scrolling is annoying and unavoidable as we are simply uploading a picture into a template. We cannot make the window bigger. We could use a work around If we reduce the picture size down but the text then becomes unreadable. The only way we could avoid any scrolling is have bigger text and much less picture, I wonder what everyone else thinks

We tried to put one shot from each of the markets into the rolling presentation, but I agree that it looks out of place with all the people photos.

Some initial proof-reading;

'Children' page
spelling pesonality / personality

'Portraits' page
sp favorite / favourite (british spelling for british audience!)
sp vist / visit
sp contemporay / contemporary
grammar: 'wide variety albums'/ 'wide variety of albums'

'Weddings' page
sp immagery / imagery
sp equisite exquisite
sp favorite / favourite

'Portfolios' page
sp favorite / favourite (you like that word!)

What is a bespoke quotation? ;)

Also the wedding shot with the Istock watermark should be removed from the mix.

You idiot!

Favorite doesn't have a "U" in it!

Sheesh!........8>)

Next you'll be trying to tell us you spell color with a "U" as well!

Oh......

I love the slide shows in the gallery.....they're just beautiful. REALLY nice shots! LOVE the wedding gallery!

This reminds me of an Eddie Izzard sketch in which he compares English vs American pronunciation.

He goes through the usual words such as Tomato and Leisure etc and then ends on Herbs.

He says you says Erbs we say Herbs...... mainly because there's a @£$%ing H in it lol

umm, then there's the story about the kid in college who turned to my husband and asked him if he could borrow his rubber.

btw, absolutely spectacular photos, guys! I'll look more at the setup later today. I got interested in the photos and forgot I was supposed to be looking at the setup!

I like it and am interested in that site for myself.

Is this a glitch though?

Wouldn't worry about it - I assume the OP hasn't been back since posting.

Hey Phil

You did not kill the thread just kept us busy for hours trying to recreate the problem you posted! We still can't do it. Can anyone else? What browser/platform are you using?

Thanks everyone for the comments and feedback so far. Couple of new shots added from yesterdays shoot under the portfolio gallery.

IE 8.

It actually did it every other time I tried it yesterday but it's not doing it at all now.

Just a little niggle - in the portfolio some images are watermarked "Chris King" - bit confusing for the average punter..
02/23/2010 04:56:45 AM · #21
love the imagery, but the loading is REALLY slow. took a long time for the home page image to come up. even though the galleries are slow, as well, the images make up for it. don't know how much patience the average browser is going to give you, though.

Hello Crish and HELLO WILL. (Chris won't notice (slysdexic) and Will must be deaf (Age)) :)

Yup looks great, I've been stalking it for a while. Great images and good info. Warm and friendly approach for prospective clients.

It loads slow as the content is redirecting/being fed from/to online picture proof . com
Home page animation often fails to load or never does. This over a period of watching it for a week.
Music always gets boring, repeat visitors will get ticked off, I'd switch it off by default and allow them to switch it on.

Is the main window really not sizeable? Kind of messes with your entire image gallery being seen in full.
A lot of scrolling has to be done, especially when your gallery grows over the next few months.

But for a bunch of Nikon owners, not bad :)

EDIT: I'll keep an eye...

Hey Harvey

It has music? wow I had no idea. That will be turned off instantly, if I can find the switch!
I will talk to pictureproof about the loading. I always log in so have not noticed it thanks for the feedback.

I wish I could sort the sizing out. I can lock the size but it is quite small. Perhaps I could split the content onto two pages to avoid scrolling

I can't really complain at the usability of picureproof though. To be able to write a website in an evening from their template speaks volumes to their softwares simple design. I guess as a result we lose some functionality but I cannot fault their service

Thanks for taking the time to lurk quietly but you will have to shout louder than that if you want Will to hear as he is not almost at pension age!

Cris!

you were using a stock image in your portfolio?

Yeah we have temporarily used a few stock images in the wedding section but all other images are our own.
Any constructive comments are most welcome though.
