We've already had a Cheater challenge. Matthew's suggestion is different, so it should have a different title to prevent confusion.

How about Trickster, or Devious? Or Liar, Liar?

Break what "rules" - ROT, Golden Mean, Leading line, etc...

ETA - Liar, Liar

I like 'Rule Breaker' .. this could be fun!

My rule would be either using someone elses image or ignoring the date stamp. I don't see this challenge ever happening haha.

Hey Irene... wanna take a picture for me? ;-P

I think the emphasis would have to be put on breaking just ONE rule. And if you feel that the rule you want to break is that someone else takes the picture? So be it. Of course make it a basic editing rule set so there are more rules you can break :)

eta: Maybe call the challenge "One Broken Rule"

ps: We could also break regular photography rules like the Rule of Thirds...but how lame would that be? :)

Definitely make it one of those joke challenges. I'd hate to see a crappy photographer take a blue and a huge bump in their average vote received with a great photographer's flawless image.

Considering the TOS of the site I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Call it the "DQ" challenge.
11/18/2009 03:36:45 PM · #15
I think the rule I'll break is shooting the photo within the challenege dates... that way, I can submit any shot I've taken in the past two years. ;)

Would you get DQ'd for not breaking any rules? :)
11/18/2009 04:01:46 PM · #17
no, you can't be DQ'd for not following the challenge description... see the other threads :)

You all do understand that if the rule of the challenge is to break the challenge rules, that not breaking the rules of this challenge is breaking the rules of the challenge.....

My head is spinning.

Let me restate this to make sure I've got it:

For this challenge, break one rule and one rule only under the basic ruleset. The rule that you've broken is to be included in your title.
Failure to identify the rule that you've broken or breaking more than one rule will result in disqualification.

Sound about right?

I dont like that it has to be in the title, becuase if I was to use someone elses photo, who wouldn't immediately vote that a 1 if it said it.

In the comments then? That way we know that you intended to break that rule. I guess the headache then is that people will bomb SC with violation inquiries only to find out that the violation in question was intentional. If its in the title then its known and it would cut down on the inquiries. Just my dos centavos.

Yup. Straightforward really.

I think it would be necessary in order for voters to make a judgement. I think that voters would want to be able to vote a 1 on people who broke that particular rule for the challenge (I would!).

er, does this mean we can break this rule:

yup...but only ONE rule. So you'd still need to provide an original and edit it legally. Hmm...which reminds of the one rule that can't be broken. You still need your original. Otherwise there's no way to know if for sure if you only broke one rule :)

I have an idea ... if all of you break one rule in the very next challenge maybe I can win a ribbon by having the only legal entry ... ;-)
