I had a friend who used it and got in really good shape.
You could also ask Coley.

I have been on it for about 4 weeks (sans diet...I pretty much eat it anyway, just need smaller meals more often). I have a very good opinion on it so far. I am not losing weight but am noticing that the beer gut is going away and firming up muscles.
I bought it in Jan...tried the first DVD and HAD to keep up with them. Pale, nauseous and sick as hell after. Didn't have the time to keep dong the workouts 6 days a week.
Not really much more available time, but need to get back in shape. Actually started about 6 weeks ago, but was doing the workouts "halfway" to ease myself into it and not repeat the first time.
I bought the pull up bar, but it does not fit in any of my doorways and requires you to attach it to the wall too. I would say get one of the ones at Walmart that you do not have to HANG it. I have an old Bowflex and use that for the pull ups right now. Been using more than I weigh on it.
I am not flexible AT ALL. I hate the Yoga part, so I do one of the others instead.
It has about 3 different workouts to do. The regular, Lean, and doubles (which seems to be the lean workouts twice a day).
It will work your ass off...or so far...putting more ROUND in MY ass! :-)

By far the best workout option on the market! I went 5 weeks in and it is tough, which means it works. Like anything, follow their instructions and follow a strict food plan and you will get amazing results. It is a complete workout! And no expensive equipmnet needed.

You won't be disappointed.

I use it and I love it. I started on July 1st and I'm already seeing a difference.

Looked for a thread on this since I recently started the program, and all I can say is DAMN. I thought I was in really good shape as I am going to school to become a personal trainer, but after the 1st week I'm realizing I have quite a ways to go. With the 1st week down I can already feel my body adapting and lost 5 pounds in the process. It's quite surprising but I can already see changes in my abs from only 1 week (although I'm doing the lean program and really focusing on my core.) If anyone else has tried this, or even a p90x grad I'd love to hear your results and thoughts.

The idea behind P90X is solid, but the need to invest money in a program that is ostensibly effective cross-training is questionable. It's great because it's a package deal and there isn't room to mess things up yourself, but the idea can easily be applied sans bought program. I have no doubt that it works, but it's also nothing different from what many successful athletes have been doing for quite some time, in concept.

My brother gave me a copy about 5 weeks ago and a week later, before I had a chance to start it, my back went out on me. I couldn't stand up or walk for about a week and it still hurts occasionally, especially when I am sleeping or sitting for awhile.

As soon as I can start the program I will. I've heard great things about it and I look forward to getting on with it. I agree that similar results can be obtained without following this program, but there's something about a program that helps keep me motivated and on track.

I've got a Gold's Gym tower for pull ups, chin ups, dips, lat pull ups and much more. It has the thick rubber band system to assist you and help you work up to full resistance. A lot can be done between push ups and that tower. I've also got a good set of free weights so between that stuff at home and a membership to LA Fitness I'm pretty much set.

Bummer to hear about your back Robert, but yeah sounds like your set up with all the equip. I only have 20 lb. weights so I need to go pick up some heavier ones. I also agree that there are different programs that can offer similar results, but with Tony Horton workin with you it gives a little more motivation. I think he is an excellent trainer by not being so serious, and he really cracks me up with some of the stuff he says.

Damn!

Is there a before shot?

Seriously, I've been thinking about trying P90x, but I'm wary of "seen on TV" products. I've just started getting back into shape by running...I went from barely being able to run for a 1min/walk for 5min to running a 5K in 32min and this looks like just the thing to kick my butt the rest of the way.

P90x does work but you have to stick with it ad give it 110%. If you cheat the workouts then you cheat yourself and the results won't be as good. You don't need P90x to tell you that you will look better, ask anyone in a gym or someone who works out if you do exercises and weight lifting for 90 days if they will see a difference!

P90x just allows you to bring the gym home. If you did 110% in the gym and gave it 90 days you would be twice as big and twice as strong then the results from the p90x.

Eating better really helps the situation as well.

That's true because to gain size and strength you need to use heavy weights, which are not used in the program. Although most people who do p90x aren't really looking for that huge increase in mass. It's more about toning, cutting, flexibility, and balance. At least that's what I'm looking to gain from the 90 days. Then I'll go back to heavy weights for awhile to add that mass.

I was the original poster on this thread last summer, and I actually did get it and do it. It works great, but the problem is I stopped after the 90 days and it didn't take long for the results I gained to revert back to what I was before. I plan to start again soon, when I heal up from a back injury. I loaned it to a friend and it's kicking his butt as we speak...

What do you need to do the workouts besides the dvds? How much can you get away with spending (on the cheap side)?

You need a pull up bar ($25) and either bands or free weights. The bands are cheaper and work really well. I recommend good quality ones, so spend about $30-$50. Other than that, it depends on how closely you want to follow the nutrition side. If you do the diet, expect to spend a lot, if you don't then drink water- it's free!

THREAD HIJACK or RESURRECTION

I am going to be starting P90X on Monday. I am going to take some before shots and end of every week shots.

Is anyone else currently doing this or just finished it?

I am going start again on Monday. I will join you. I will try to get some pics done.
Maybe this will keep me motivated.

My plan
5am do Insanity (same company BeachBody)
Then in the pm do the p90x program.

I know, I know peeps will chime in on how that is not good but, ...
