I'd say were due for a redo on this challenge. And of course in the chance that it may be missed, this challenge should only be run in advanced editing allowing us to process our photos in ways similiar to how he did it (e.g. dodge burn...etc)

Or if we wanted to be mean it could be a Minimal Editing Speed Challenge ... ;-)

I like this. Produce an Ansel Adams looking image straight from the camera.

"Ansel Adams" and "straight from the camera" being polar opposites.

;o)

could be a good idea. the advanced editing probably work for better photographs but the minimal editing could be an interesting game.... and the double challenge? two challenge Ansel Adams II that run in same time, the first under advanced editing and the second under the minimal editing. could be the challenges of the tuesday...

I've already dodged and burned 'Moon and Half Dome' in preparation for this challenge. :) I'm hoping to improve on his last entry which finished 11th but was subsequently DQ'd.

I'd like to remind people that part of the "challenge" concept is that you don't know what topic is coming up soon. I think the more you engage in current discussion of the topic, the less likely it might be for it to be used real soon, since then it wouldn't be such a "surprise."

Occassionally Langdon will post a recent suggestion, especially if timely for a holiday or something, but overall I think it best to assume that the "You nag, we lag" principle will apply in the area of challenge suggestions.

I'm pretty sure all of the "non-facetious" challenge suggestions go onto the list of potential topics.

I thought this was really funny. Put me down and as a non nagging vote for this challenge. :)

"Minimal Editing" is so non-Ansel as to be laughable. It's inconceivable that we can get meaningful tributes to Adams out of that ruleset. If you want a photographer-tribute challenge in B/W, in-camera, under Minimal Editing rules, then why not go with Cartier-Bresson?

THAT would make sense.

I would also like to see this as a challenge....and no nagging going on here.

Yes, that would be a great challenge too. I would love an Ansel or a HCB challenge, preferably the latter as I am now in NYC and don't have access to landscapes... Photographer-themed challenges are great IMO

That one must've dropped right off the front page so fast nobody caught it. I sure didn't. For the record, BTW, I'd love another Ansel challenge, just not with Minimal Editing...

It may have been good for it to drop off the front page like that -- a good suggestion doesn't really need discussion, and it's not such a good "challenge" if everyone has just been talking and thinking about it, or posting examples. I think it's better when the challenge pops up as more of a surprise, after people have moved on to other topics for a while.

Of course, by noting this, I've just bumped the thread again ... :-(
