I would like to organize a group of DPC photographers that are involved in portrait photography and would like to work with other members of similar interests. The goals are pretty simple right now:
1. Build a list of dpc members that are fairly serious about their portrait photography.
2. Support posting of thumbnails to your latest work.
3. Encourage and support portrait photography in challenge entries.

Please let me know if you are interested and we\'ll get started!

Posting Guidelines
1. Upload your images(s) to your dpc portfolio.
2. Update the image detail to include your goals as well as the techniques used.
3. Post a thumbnail(s) to the image her so we can have a look.
Note: If you post more than one image, the collection should make sense as a series

same here. I work mostly with portrait photography. But they will be random (very random during winter as I only shoot in natural light...so far).

There is no time line for submission, but I'm thinking that even if you are not submitting you enjoy looking at and possible commenting on work from other portrait photographers.

I'm in!

I have a degree in portrait photography, and own my own studio with my girlfriend (who has left dpc for good).

I'd like to join as well.

My husband and I bought a studio just a little over a month ago. Though I end up doing a lot more editing and managing than shooting, it's teaching me a lot.

i think owning your own studio is one of the best things I could do. isn't the lifestyle fun. we open just over 3 months ago now, and it's been a whirlwind of extreme fun and tears ever since!

I love it, we need to be friends

I like to do portraits and candids. So count me in, but I dont always have access to an event. I dont have a studio, but when I go to events I take tons of headshots. :)

Many of us have just dabbled in portraits, but are interested in improving, and really could use both practice and feedback. Any thought about having a separate group to accomodate those with less experience?

I will probably go ahead and post here as well. My wife and I are just in the beginning steps of going semi pro. Our focus will be senior and family type portraits.

You may want to carefully select the photos you want your potential clients to view...

This list should most likely be marked in such a way to show experience level. I feel like I'm fairly competent at portraiture and I make some money from time to time, but I don't have the equipment, time, or talent that someone else could offer. So when I give advice, I like for the advice-ee to know where the opinion/help is coming from.

And I will add the first image. I realize that this is still on the front page but its some of the most recent portrait work I have done. We are in the process of shopping for studio backdrops as this piece of black velvet is really only good for head shots. Lighting is ala Strobist. A 420ex on a light stand bounced off a silver umbrella and fired by the 580ex on camera. dwterry's portfolio is a great one to search through for info on lighting. He is usually very detailed in his details. I tend to ask him alot of questions through PM's.

We need to get that puppy printed up as a 16x20 and hung right in the middle of our studio. I so love that shot.

I agree, the list should include experience level. If people want to edit their "I'm in" responses I'll find a way to include experience level in the list.

Could we also maybe talk about the lighting we use in the photos? (just a thought)

Very good point... I'll add some guidelines to the initial post that outline how we'll post images for the group.

I'd like to join as well. I have a small portrait business and I mostly shoot children and headshot/zed cards for models. It seems like all I submit on this site is portraits.
