Yea, those were my thoughts too. It is cheap to take the monorail, and the Center is a really good central spot.

Daryl LoudDog, I have been to King Street station area many times and it is a good idea as well. However, it is a bit seedy and from there we would have to "walk" north to Pioneer Square. There are some really really good Chinese eating places down that way though and maybe we could consider that area for lunch?

Meeting at the center seems like a good choice. If the group is large it can always split up and go just about anywhere downtown from there. We could then have a meeting spot back at the center sometime later in the day. Choices from there could be the center itself, the Seattle Library, Pike Place Market, the waterfront and Aquarium or Pioneer Square and the Underground Tour.

A couple of other good photo spots would be Woodland Park Zoo and the Arboretum but they are both drive to places.

At this point I can make either day but not likely both so I’ll keep on eye on the thread to see what the consensus is.

I'm down for whatever itinerary is laid out. Seattle Center is ok to start. I will probably drive down for the GTG and can carpool with anyone from the North end (Frank caba?).

I'll also throw out there that I am going to dinner at Dukes Chowderhouse in Greenlake in the evening of Nov 3rd - my neighbor/landscaper/singer/songwriter who I shot some portraits for will be playing that night.

If anyone is interested, it would be cool if I could pack the house for him. I think reservations are required and it's a little pricey, but you can sign up for their email list and get a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free entree. I wouldn't do it as a large group (grumble 20% grumble), but as couples or smaller groups. I'll be there with Mrs. Roflmao and some other friends, but would be happy to see any of you there.

[/end shameless plug]

Dang, a place that steams clams in garlic, butter and Mac & Jack is tops on my list of places!!! I'm there with ya Ken if you don't mind. I am also north end as well...

Bumpity bump bump... :-)

Anyway, it appears that we have confirmed Seattle Center as a meeting place...only thing I suppose we need to figure out is what time?

Thanks

Dang...reminds me of the old Army advertisement on television..."We do more before 5am then most people do all day.." That was an understatement when I was in, geesh...

Just a couple of thoughts to the itinerary as well...

The Olympic Sculpture Park, about 5 minute walk from Seattle Center. Nice location for those who have yet to see it and it saves on Monorail trip.

Also some other random ideas for those loving architecture and photo ops (far end of town):
Seattle Public Library - You can spend all day Shooting there
Seattle City Hall - Very cool building too...

I'd give samples of those areas, but I wouldn't want to ruin the uniqueness. Just some thought.

That all sounds pretty good, did we have anywhere specific in the seattle center to meet? That huge red sculpture near the space needle comes to mind as a good spot unless there was already some other place decided on that I missed.

I would like a couple of cell phone numbers - pretty please :-) - from people who are definitely going (to help me find you guys if I'm lost).

I'd suggest meeting in the center building (stage/food court/Children's museum) in case it is raining. Easy place to hang out for a bit while we're waiting.

I'm planning on attending and my cell number is 509-438-0384. I think it's a good idea to trade some numbers so we can locate each other or keep in touch when we get separated.

This get together is going to be great fun.

If you live in the Pacific Northwest ...
And if you're not planning to come ...
Have a look at these shots from this morning, and reconsider!

Are we thinking downtown Seattle area for both Sat and Sun?
10/22/2007 06:38:42 PM · #97
Yes to both days, but I am unsure if we are thinking "downtown area" both days. I am working on putting together a "loose" itinerary and see how it is accepted by the masses. That is where I am having difficulties somewhat as much depends on the weather, at least that is my feeling on this. So I am trying to come up with a rain plan as well...any suggest as to what you would like to do or go would be welcomed...

Here's a rainy day spot ...

Paramount Theatre Public Tours
Responding to ever-increasing requests from area residents and visitors, each first Saturday of every month, the Seattle Theatre Group will offer free tours of the historic Paramount Theatre.

That would actually be an awesome idea! Get in behind the scene as it were. Got this from their website: //www.theparamount.com/paramount/patron/tours.asp

Paramount Theatre tours are on the first Saturday of every month. Please meet in front of the main entrance of the Theatre – on the corner of 9th and Pine – by 10 am. The tours will last approximately 90 minutes and will be lead by members of our well-versed volunteer staff.

“Over 450,000 patrons pass through the doors of The Paramount each year. These free tours give the public a chance to learn more about this historic Theatre while giving them a glimpse behind the scenes,” said Josh LaBelle, Executive Director of the Seattle Theatre Group – the non-profit performing arts organization that owns and operates the historic Paramount and Moore Theatres.

Ooooohhhhhh, I love that idea!!! Let's do it! Only 90 minutes anyway, so there will be plenty of time for other stuff, too.
Great idea. Should we warn them to expect a whole bunch of us?
