Ok, watched the simpsons that spoofed World of Warcraft, and now I am curious to see what is all the fuss. I downloaded 3.8GIG! and have been installing for the last 20 minutes.

This better be good...

Level 42 Night-Elf Warrior on Mag. Haha. Im a nerd.

Its very addictive. Simpsons did an episode about this? or are you talking about the South Park one?

I find myself playing in spurts now a days, I used to play 20 hours a week, but I know people who have quit (read: lost) their jobs cause they couldnt get off the computer.

Jason - you are going to have about 10 patches before you get up to speed. They patch the game every week (Tuesday I think) to adjust for things within the game.

Log Entry Day 4...

My attempts to finish installing World of Warcraft have failed. Although my team was able to overcome the 3.8 gigabyte download the 17th patch update was more than we could handle. We have decided to set up shop and play theme Hospital instead.

They just played the repeat of that episode Sunday Night. Marge has to get the internet so she can fill out email forms for a school project or something. I Missed the first few minutes. Anyway once she has the internet she starts to google thing and ends up playing a RPG which i would guess is based on WOW,

Ya it was funny because she made her place online all decorated with Hello Kitty. Then Bart accidentally killed her (online) with a mace.

AAAAAWWWWWWWW!!!!! Sweet Jesus. I spent the last 24 hours installing this only to find out that all the "realms" will be offline until 9:00 freaking o'clock!

Is this like some sort of adult swim for the game to give time for the WOW junkies to get more mountian dew, take a shower and sleep for an hour before jumping back online?

Get out while you still can!

I have a few top level toons; Undead Priest, Hunter, and a Druid. It's technically not a horrible game, but everything they do is to make you play longer, heh. The final straw for me is that it's also very group orientated for end-game stuff, so for me it's impossible. I loathe big guilds.

I went from WoW to Vanguard which was horrible. Vanguard's quests just made you run across the zone 15 times. If you complain you're told you're not "hardcore" enough. To which I reply "No, I just want to have a life and get a level!" And the lag.. oh the lag.. I couldn't even move stuff in my bags without lag. System wise, I'm right where I should be so that's no excuse.

I'm now playing Lord of the Rings Online. To me that says ultimate dork, but the game is actually pretty cool, so far.

I'm waiting for Warhammer. I want to do it for Chaos.. mmmm..

Jason - thats what I was saying - Tuesdays are patch days. It gives the geeks a chance to go to the comic book store.
07/10/2007 10:15:32 AM · #15
So if I open a comic book store I need to be open from 3:00am - 11:00am on Tuesdays...lol ok it all makes sense now.

I will wait patiently for the "realms" to re-open. Then my transformation to geek will be complete.

I guess this is goodbye. I'll miss you Jason.. *sniff*

Edit: Actually I'll take this time to tell you to play an Undead Shadow Priest. They're the funnest and everyone will hate you for it.

Give me pointy ears and long hair and I look like an elf. Give me a pot belly and a longer beard and I look like a dwarf. So I really don't know what side to choose.

I formatted my hard drive a couple months ago. I've been itching to get back into WoW, but I'm dreading all the downloading and patching.

I think I should be able to launch it sometime this week...maybe.

I am thinking about giving the LOTR one a try instead. Seems to get really good reviews.

Oh good golly. Now the servers are up, but I can't login. I guess it is back to homework for me.
07/10/2007 01:50:42 PM · #22
I used to play Quake 3 a lot. I eventually got good enough with the railgun that I'd typically enter a full server and pwnzor everyone so completely that they would disconnect in anger, after verbally abusing me (which I loved). If the server allowed "kicking", then I'd sometimes be suspected of cheating and get vote-kicked. :-D

I haven't played for years. I miss it every once in a while, but not enough to re-install it and the gazillion game and punkbuster patches.

I play WOW and love it.
