Hey DPC I've been gone a while, ok a long while. I rejoined recently and am entering my first challenge in a long time. I'm curious, is the active number of members down quite a bit? I noticed most images have less than 70 votes on them in the challenges I've looked through lately. Is this the new "norm"

I also noticed that the current active forums are a lot smaller. I know it all cycles, just curious if this is a long term trend or just a down swing currently.

Yes. Long term trend.

At least 30 months maybe more.

and some people just don't vote.

Sad makes me rethink paying $25 for a membership for the update button, when the votes don't come in fast enough to need one. Oh well.

I did notice that, the place is essentially a ghost town. I wondered about the cobwebs when I came back to the site to login.

It's not the DPC it used to be, that's for sure. I put in one last $25, but mostly for the portfolio space.

*tumbleweeds blowing by* Welcome back, Matt...and yes you're basically right in your ghost town assessment. Even though we seem to have some new members from Asia, and some returning members, it's just pretty damn quiet. Hey, it's so quiet here that I even ribboned in an Expert err sorry, Extended challenge....strange but true!!!

And..... then some of the oldies just paid her membership back up and vows to go shoot her camera again!!

Welcome back, Matt! It's been slower, smaller. Maybe you can help stir things up :)

I've been back since January after a two year absence. I try to keep threads alive nearly every day and I vote and comment more than I ever did previously and I am trying to enter as many challenges as possible. I'm always happy to engage with some of the familiar faces of the past and a few new folks that are fairly active. DPC is a thin shadow of it's former self, but I just try to enjoy what's left of it while it lasts. I will say that the low number of votes is discouraging irritating.

Always good to see old friends pop back in.

Did you just insult me by calling me old?

Good to see you Art.

If you think of it as a cocktail, then smaller group + more Art = lots more Art flavor in your cocktail. This goes for other DPC "personalities" as well. So if you like a spicy drink that leaves you wondering what you did last night, then you've come to the right place.

I see they have done some upgrading. I now have the option to mark my own comments in threads as Spam. How awesome is that?

If we keep bringing people back, there's hope yet!

I love it here.

Sure... it's kinda quiet compared to the old days...

But people still help each other... and encourage one another.

And, don't forget... in the old days, we did have to walk up hill (both ways) in the snow every day.

The new rulesets allow for much greater freedom.

And we're still allowed to argue about the new rulesets... if they allow for much greater freedom or are insane.

:D

Norm! I love this bar.

Paid members get 3 challenges a week plus free studies. Registered members get one challenge a week. That's a big difference, a lot more options for your 2 bucks + change a month...

It's pretty much over here, out of the few people that are left only a fraction of them vote. DPC had a good run.

You could give 10 challenges a week, if there is little to no participation or voting does it all matter? As I said it's sad what I came back to see. In the hay day, the votes were a flurry, and each update could get you a vote or two, now it could be hours between votes. Even in the early hours or days of a challenge.

It's definitely more... intimate now.

I like to enjoy that. :D

Not as many entrants means more chances of a ribbon.

Well go vote my image a 10 and all will be forgiven. But you have to do it for all of your ghost accounts as well.
