Just curious, who plays whom in round 1? Is it the winners of each Division/Conference within their League or are you seeding 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3 based on percentage during the regular season?

Ahh, your already concerned that you might have to face In The Works right off the bat.

It's like this, if things work the way they're supposed to then #1 and #2 meet up eventually. If we have to beat you guys in the first round before moving on to the 2nd Tier teams, so be it. :)

I don't know about that. I've heard that the first challenge topic is going to be abstract cats in a landscape. We've got this.

I'm with you on that however, it would also make sense for the Global and World leagues to have a champion first and then play off for the.. erm... what do we win again?

That would mean 1 V 2 and 3 V 4 using the current percentiles but no idea what the original seeds were. The original seeds were of course to create the leagues not the playoff games?

Original seedings would/should not factor in (original seeds 2 thru 5 made the playoffs), teams would/should be re-seeded based on regular season record and percentage - as is done in most major sports with the playoffs. Given the records are all the same, seeding would/should be based on percentage.

That said, I would have expected that it would be plain and simple and that the League Conference winners would play each other first. But when looking in the FAQ there is this...

6 - How do the playoffs work?

The winning teams from each division all qualify for the playoffs. However, the rest of the details of the playoffs have yet to be finalised.

...which leads me to believe that if they didn't spell out the obvious matches up front that there could be a re-seeding, which was the impetus to my original question.

hopefully they dont do something stupid like choose "fine art". not that im against it, i just think it would screw up the voting.

Agreed. As bland as the topics were during the regular season, they were open enough to allow you to get creative in a lot of directions. I'd much rather have that than a very focused and rigid category. And let's stay away from Expert Editing and Yellow Flag rules, OK?!

We've decided to mix things up a bit and make the topics for the finals be ESSAY questions, not photography challenges. Your team will have a week to write a collaborative essay telling the voters why you deserve to win the championship, and the voters will judge the essays based on originality, grammar, and innovative use of literary devices. Good luck! ;-)

Not that it makes a difference to those of us in teams that finished 2nd or lower in the conferences, but it seems logical to continue the NFL type structure until conclusion, i.e. get a Global Champion and a World Champion, and have them play-off. Just my 2 cents worth, but as I said, it doesn't make a difference for us... we're just eating popcorn in the stands and enjoying the spectacle. :)

Not THAT is a challenge I can sink my teeth into!! Can we have a yellow flag that states we "cannot use photography terms or illusions to anything artsy"?! :)

Not that it matters, but looking at the original seeding, I see teams 2, 4, 5 and 7 are making the playoffs. The team you excluded is one I know well ... ;)

My apologies. From the rant earlier this week I had assumed we were the only ones outside the top 4 seeds to make it. Now NONE of that nonsense makes sense!!

It's been great so far, plenty of bonding, side challenges and best of all we have had good participation in challenges during TPL, so like it or not, it does work and is very good for the site

The finals are poised perfectly with no team yet knowing the feeling of losing .. this will be very interesting and will be tough all round.

We're ready.

Do the people voted out prior then get a chance to question the remaining survivors? Do our torches get snuffed? And where's our buffs!!

Still no pronouncement.

Hmmmm, perhaps a cage match - all in and only the top 2 survive to move on?!
07/31/2015 09:33:04 AM · #25
I was guessing they are validating all the images first?
But yeah it would be nice to know what's up.
