Of course we need a double challenge - summer and winter.

I can do both here in Taiwan.
It's winter now but 24C

I'm heading to Florida next week. Winter there is like summer where I live. Let's do it!

Here is a good example of a poorly presented challenge idea. It's a very exclusive suggestion. And, there is no suggested ruleset. In its current form, I would hope the site council members do not place it in the queue.

Richard's sense of fun seems to have left him.

I find myself thinking, "What if we had a challenge called 'Summer OR Winter'?" with the description making it clear we'd submit our best example of EITHER, and let the voters decide which season rules... :-)

What's wrong with the original description Beaches, Blondes and Booze?

You don't need a season to do any of them.

the site may suffer from a number of things but poorly conceived, clumsily presented and awkwardly implemented suggestions aren't one of them.

Ok, everyone get back on the topic and stop poking at each other. I'm about to get mean and sic Bear on you.

My feet are starting to hurt from all the eggshells.

It's the coldest month of the year in my neck of the woods so I wouldn't mind seeing a little fun in the sun.

got you going again!! just saying though,we get challenges that we have difficulty doing because of seasonal things,or other things that are distinctly American customwise.

Okay, I'll play the devil's advocate:

1. What ruleset do you suggest?

2. Is this only open to members south of the equator with photographer's access to "Beaches, Blondes and Booze"?

3. Will it be a DNMC vote for subjects not meeting the challenge criteria?

1.) I'll let Nick answer that since it's his suggestion. It's a horrible thing that he neglected to add a ruleset.

2.) Why should it be? Autumn (May 2012) and Autumn II (April 2013), Fall Foliage (Oct-Nov 2013), Spring (May 2012) and Spring II (April 2013), Summertime Meals (July 201) and Summertime Meals II (July 2013) weren't limited to one specific hemisphere. Creative people (that would exclude me) can create a photo to meet pretty much any challenge. There have been plenty of hemisphere or country specific challenges and people have found ways o enter them.

3.) As with pretty much all challenges, not entering a photo that meets the challenge criteria results in a DNMC vote.

MIKE and RICHARD, knock it off, willya. You're throwing barbs at each other and it's not fun for any of the rest of us. I realize you each think the other is ridiculous (or worse), but you're BOTH guilty of flogging this exchange to death and it's time to stop, OK?

i am for this challenge.

Beaches, Blondes and Booze, A bit of a throwaway line, I was looking for the essence of Summer , what it means and what we do.Could be BBQs Beers and Best mates,. Kids,Dogs and Swimming in the water hole or riding down the river in an old tractor tyre,. Things we did Back then
tried to show it in my Candid portrait, With a Reference to "Th'Dog"!! another of my challenge suggestions!1

I think Beaches, Blondes, and Booze is as inclusive and non-site/country/culture specific as it can possibly get. I don't care what hemisphere or country you are in, there's got to be at least one of those three available.

Generally, the ruleset is a suggestion, and not necessarily the one Langdon ultimately chooses for the challenge.

Beaches, Blondes, and Booze. (Otherwise known as the Essence of Summer?)

Okay, I'm now in the middle of a blizzard so am really becoming excited about the idea of working creatively to photograph summer. (Although that title seems to allow lots of room for things other than summer.)

I would be in.

I think it would be great to vote on.

I agree, in the middle of a deep freeze, it would be fun to think of summer!
I am sure I would be in.

Allow me to append the challenge suggestion by the OP, since he has chosen to abdicate that responsibility.

It should definitely be "Expert Editing". I'll assume that will be the ruleset attached to this fine idea.

How about this gets moved to rant and a new challenge suggestion thread for this gets posted?
