So, I thought I was all that and decided to do this massive production.

I now realize I am as thick as the back end of a shit house.

I have 2 80 inch parabolics and an overhead light if needed.

Thing is, I have people floundering on the floor and then the main model on the ladder looking down on her floundering really flipping hot, chiseled, muscular men.

So was thinking F7-8ish, manual, sort of set in the middle with the lighting (1/4 power)

do you think the lighting would work from lighting some of the people on the floor up to full lighting with some shadows for the women??

Obviously any diagrams would be great at this point

thank you =)

A shot of Cognac on the side probably wouldn't hurt.

Shoot away and show us the results.

I tried to google "lighting crazy ass groups," and the results weren't helpful. "Lighting groups of hunky guys" at least got results about photography, though.

Incidentally this is the recommended ordering verbiage when sitting down at supercuts.

I think you need to have Cirque Du Soleil on speed dial:-) Maybe you could get an idea of lighting from one of the acts in their performances.

Now I'm really curious - hope you pull this off -would love to see it.

these are the type of guys I have, classical trained or martial arts experts, all dripping in muscles and then painted. so what I wanted was a dark lower ground then lighting as they are reaching or 'dancing towards the woman on the ladder, so out of the dark comes light./

does that make sense???

I have to pull it off, as it is a live event in front of a live audience of my peers, enemy's and probably more enemies! lolol, painter is painting the men live, I am shooting the women and men live in my vision.

HENCE

the need for valium

If that's the case..those big umbrellas will cover your whole scene with light..unless they are set high or level with the woman on the ladder...maybe some flags are needed on the bottom of the umbrellas ...depends on the effect you're lookin for

This is the lighting I want, but this was only a beauty dish, but I want that blackness at the bottom and the men crawling up towards the light.,

So what if I did the 80 inch up high, then the 80 inch at a much smaller voltage below? or even go from F8ish lower??

03/28/2013 08:31:18 PM · #18
...and you have to do this live? A practice set up may be in order.

Live? With an audience? Oh, good god. Now I understand the need for valium.

I agree with kawesttex. Practice session.

If that's the look...then the set up in the diagram won't work...just use the one light source like the example and your good if it's set in the right position you will get same effect...with some spill to light the men enuf for your desired effect....

Yes practice session is always a must!
