I love painting with light and some of the effects that can be had. Steel wool spinning comes to mind as a technique that is fun to goof with:
Just this last week a new technique using something called "EL-wire" came to my attention. Some of the effects are really cool. Had anybody here tried using this stuff?

I've played with it a bit, just not as a photographic tool...yet. Fun stuff.
I was experimenting with using a microcontroller and a EL controller to independently control several different strands of EL wire based on different inputs from things like a microphone, a pulse sensor, accelerometer etc. as part of my environmentally interactive Halloween costume. Unfortunately, I got started too late and a bunch of other things came up that took away from it and I never finished. I might have to resurrect and repurpose this stuff.

$6.45 won't go far for crack, though :-) Gotta love Amazon Prime... 2-day free shipping.

Nice work with the height!
I've experimented a fair bit with it. I have a supplier working on some super-bright material so I can stitch it into freerunners' clothing. I've got different colours but it's always trying to be blue really! Red is often too dull to show up without very stark exposure.

Nice! I definitely think Caden is going to have a blast with shots like the top one. He's currently into zombies and super-powers. The idea of his hands effusing blue energy would get him quite excited. |

Woo hoo. I found a place in Seattle that carried EL wire so I picked up an orange and a blue. Hope to have some fun with them on the trip.
