The self portrIt challenges around here take on a new life, some go all out, some hide themselves, some show ...gasp!...real emotion, and some put aside studio trickery altogether.

...........navel gazing.............gasp........I think I am suggesting naked (unmasked) emotive feeling - basic - exposure - head shots..probably... participant's personalities.....exaggeration included...show us your most intense feeling...no makeup...basic lighting.....real simple....sans props...etc..... let's see you you really are....... bearing one's soul is definitely challenging...takes courage........alone without trickery or costume............should I give up now.....oh wait...this IS d.p. challenge......i forgot

this could be my first and last suggestion

Sassy!

I like the idea for either a challenge or side challenge. Advanced or Expert.

I don't know, I don't like to do much with self portraits showing emotion :)

Think of this as a place holder image =).

I'm now away for a week but I'd love to spend time doing a 'proper' self portrait when I get back. I also want to see Vivian's "self portrait with extreme emotion" up by the time I get back :).

edit: hah, only just noticed this is a challenge suggestion thread. Well I'll wait for this challenge then before putting a lot of effort in to one of these =). F- to me on reading.

The darkroom of my soul. Cancer became my window to the light out there. The darkroom still part of me, the other fight just more conscious as it involves real pain every minute of every day.

I absolutely and honestly feel for you.....as I have lost so much...as you have........your light is an inspiration that I have not yet to set into the place of courage you face.....pain...yes...I have it.......thank you sir......I can sense you...and your struggle.....and the fact that we all must suffer.......please continue to talk to me...on any level....whenever you feel inclined. Peace and acceptance. The moments are difficult....the light is bright. Stay in that light......thank you.

I love this idea for a challenge, but might suggest opening it up to "portrait" as a general term?

Agreed and think it's a great idea. I have been trying to learn and practice portraits and set-up shots as of late. This would fit right in for me.

I may have the suggestion....but have no capacity or knowledge how to go to the next level? After there is a challenge suggestion put out....what happens next if people are interested?

With SOPA interest is cancelled and arrest is possible. Now it is a waiting game. There are powers up there in the ivory towers who pulls the hares out of the hats and that's that.
