I have been a paying member on DPC so long that when I let my membership expire by not paying, I was surprised to find that I couldn't vote on member challenges?
Are there many people that PAY just to vote? That's the only reason I can think there would be for not allowing it.

Seems like a goofy thing that non-paying members can't vote on all challenges.
I realize this is probably a topic that has been covered as many times as 'troll'-voting but I just thought I'd mention it ;)

I suppose it decreases false accounts created just to pump someone's score up.

How about a pay scale to increase the value of your vote. Say, if you pay an extra $10 per month, each of your votes is worth ten... if you pay $100 extra per month, each of your votes is worth 100...

No, no, no, Slippy. The more you pay the lower you can vote. If you don't pay at all you have to give everyone a ten.

No no no the more you pay to me the higher you can vote.....lol...er and tate, if you don't renew your membership not only can you not vote on the member challenges but you can't enter them either and you no longer have a portfolio or acess to all forums!

Better Idea. What if you paid to have the lowest scores given to you removed. For every 2 dollars, you lose one poor score off of your average. LOL.

Well, seriously, Tate:

We don't pay so we can *vote*. We pay so we can have the extra challenges, and to support the community we care about. As for voting, I've heard it opined that the self-selected pool of paying members/voters is better-educated, photographically, and therefore more discriminating, than the unwashed hordes of hangers-on that swell the ranks of registered members. You couldn't prove it by me, though :-)

Well seriously, Bear, that's pretty much what I said, only I said it nicer.

I think non paying members should be able to vote on any challenge. The more people who view our photos, the better.

No,no. Now wait a minute. Tate was the leader of our DPL team "ImageNation" and I got to know him pretty well.
I am almost convinced that our Tate is not unwashed.

Thanks Alice.
I have always liked the community here very very much. Alice is a great example.
I'm just a cheapskate ;]

The reason I originally became a paying member was primarily to have a little area where I could sell prints. I have since created a Smugmug pro account so that doesn't matter much -

But the prints site is not something that really gets much attention is it? In fact, I can't think of any part of this web-site that changes much.
Maybe I'm wrong ? … Seems like whenever there is mention of the site improving (or not), people tend to agree that it is pretty stagnant.

Well $25 = approx £15.40 which at an average sort of price is 5 pints of beer here in the UK.

Very cheap for a year,s membership in my opinion.
