I have been doing some small studio shoots and need a good website where I can display the images for previewing and ordering.. The website does not need to have a way to order the images, just have captions under the image for image name so the person can write down the image they want.. a good thumbnail presentation as well as larger image preview. Had been using photobucket but its just not professional looking... looking for something free/cheap, fast and pro looking until I get my website finished (also looking for a good template/site builder for a portfolio/proof display website). Thanks.

At Skip's suggestion, I use Exposure Manager. Here is my website that they host for me.

Despite what they say, it does lack some customization, especially if you are not adept at website programming (I'm certainly not) but my website is an example of what anyone can do.

What I really like about it is the ease of uploading a lot of images quickly and applying your price structures that you have set up. These take awhile initially, but for similar galleries and events you can simply create them and use one of your existing price sheets.

You have the option of taking care of all of the orders yourself or let them do it at about a 4% commission. I choose that latter. Since starting this new website I haven't printed and shipped a single picture. They do it all and in your name. Their service is outstanding and all I do now is take the pictures, post process them, and upload them. They do the rest and I love this system.

I've been too busy to put time into sprucing up the looks of my website, but it certainly is functional. I'll probably hire a freelance web guru to fix things up for me and change the look drastically, but for now it's working very well for me.

Zenfolio looks to be the cheapest but Smugmug's templates are quite nice... hard choice ahead.

Thanks for all the info guys!

The one point that made the decision between Zenfolio vs Smugmug, for me, was how affective they were at keeping their own brand from showing through on my site. At the time "powered by smugmug" showed after my name on google searches and the shopping cart had a heavy does of smugmug branding. I think it's been over two years since I made that decision, so things may have changed drastically on the smugmug side. I think both offer 30 day free trials, so you can play around and see which suits your taste and needs.
