I'm looking for a second shooter for a wedding the first Saturday in May in Southern/Mid-Missouri. Owensville to be exact (between Jefferson City and Rolla). I was hoping MattO would be able to assist, but he has scheduling conflicts that weekend.

It is an evening outdoor wedding, country/western in theme (horses and cowboy boots). The ceremony is going to be fairly short and I can't be in two places at once, so I am looking to increase coverage. The wedding and reception are on the same site, so I also need a hand in getting any portraits after the ceremony done in a quick and organized fashion.

I am looking for my 2nd shooter to just be able to sit back, capture some little moments here and there, more candid/photojournalism style. I have some ideas for posed portraits of the bride/groom, but everything else can be more relaxed. This would be a great gig for someone who has done some portraiture, and is interested in weddings but maybe hasn't taken the plunge yet; or for newer second shooters who are looking for more shutter clicks. There will probably be an opportunity for you to work with either the bride/bridesmaids or groom/groomsmen to do some group/individual portraits as well.

This is an attractive couple, I'll post pictures tonight. You will keep all your shots for portfolio/promotional use. Check out my portfolio for my past wedding work and shoot me an email, PM, or post here if you are interested, then we can work out the details. I'd like to see any portraiture, candids, or photojournalism type shots you have and also what equipment you use. I shoot Canon and am renting a couple extra lenses, so Canon shooters can share bags (but I'm not excluding Nikon or others).

I can cover some expenses if you need to travel. Food/drink is provided all day, and you are welcome to shoot as much as you want. If you want to stay and shoot some of the reception, that is great, but not 100% necessary.

Hi Drew,

Wow! this is cool. I have never gotten a job offer over dpchallenge before! This sounds like a great opportunity for me and I am just now \"taking the plunge\" . Unfortunately I have a previous commitment that day as well. Perhaps another time in the future? Here is my web site: lipstudios.com. I am in the Kansas City area.

Thank you so much for the opportunity!!

Good luck!

Andrea

No problem Andrea, I was afforded a few opportunities from some DPC folks a few years ago and enjoyed my photography a little more because of it. I figured this would be a good place to start to offer up if anyone was in the area.

Drew is an awesome guy and great to work with! Wish I wasn't committed to working for the paper that weekend.

BTW Drew I need to talk to you this weekend at the class about a possible wedding in Sept!

Are you still looking for another shooter? I am available if you still need someone.

Just sent a couple of PM's to those that are local and interested. I heard back first from a photography friend in St. Louis, who is trying to move some stuff around for that weekend. I will know for sure by this weekend. Thank you for sticking with me on this. If I don't end up shooting with a DPCer, we should still try to schedule a GTG in Missouri somewhere this year...it's been too long!

Is there a grassy knoll?

J/K

Sounds like an awesome way to gain some experience. Hope it all goes well for everyone.

I'm available, but you'll have to fly me in when you fly in tanguera...

(I probably shouldn't mention that she and I are on opposite coasts -- or would that make a difference?)

Boy I'm sure flattered that you thought of me, and I wish I would of got the message sooner, I would of had a great time shooting what I could (always do). I haven't been active on this site in a while, I've actually only been shooting storms lately, lightning. I need to get back in the mix. Well, again thanks for the invite, and I sure would of been happy to work with you. Hopefully I'll be around the site a little more often in the coming weeks, take care of yourself.

While this is a very old thread, it would still be neat to get a Mo GTG for the fall.

Anyone want to help plan one?

Matt
