Is there any conceivable reason to buy another 1800mAh canon battery for $79.9 instead of two 2200mAh aftermarket ones for $18.65 off of ebay? //tinyurl.com/2fd5mno
Seems a no brainer but I thought I would see what other people are doing...

It says that the battery info may not be seen. That might be a bad thing.

I think this is referring to the NEW canon batteries that have a chip in them that tracks their health. So these will not show up with stats in the camera.

I've been using an aftermarket battery in my Canon XTi for several months now and have not had a problem. Got a great price for it on Ebay that I couldn't pass up.

I tend to avoid the no-name aftermarket batteries, but the ones with brand names I know, I have been using with no trouble. I have several of these Ultralast BP-511 compatible batteries and they work great. Looks like the price on amazon has gone down by $3 since I bought mine.

I use batteries from www.sterlingtek.com

They've outlasted the Canon batteries. Each one that came with my G3 and 10D have long since died but the sterlingtek batteries I got at about the same time as the 10D are still going strong.

Thanks, but they don't have the LP-E6.

It is a no brainer!! My aftermarket batteries from Ebay have lasted longer then the Canon batteries. You are paying extra for the name with canon.

Personally, I'd never risk a $2500 camera for a $60 saving on a battery.

...

Good, buy brand name.

....

As for me? The only brand name batteries I have came with the cameras. larger capacity, cheaper, just as good or better performance... Yeah. I'll go buy my no-names.

THANKS DPC
!!

I have a 5dmkII and use after market batteries. I have two in an after market grip and they last for ages. Never had a problem.

Actually they do. They call it the Canon EOS 5D Mark II battery. ;O)

There's even a two battery + charger combo for $35.
