Elk in the mistby anmldocComment by tnun: This is beautiful. Not sure beefed up colour/contrast would improve the feel of this. Sorry you're not longer a member or active, because your two viewable photos are excellent, and stand very well on their own. |

Elk in the mistby anmldocComment by sfalice: Oh, great. You were just here! YOu went to the right spot to find Elk. And took exquisite advantage of the fog. |

Definitely Not Going Anywhereby anmldocComment by sfalice: Oh, yes. I've taken this image myself. Ankle deep in mud and other things. As a matter of fact, I think my image is in a Challenge somewhere but it certainly didn't fare as well as yours.
Good one. |

Dog at the Beachby anmldocComment by notesinstones: Don't worry about playing by the rules to make a good picture, this is a great photo in my opinion.
The DOF is on the sand just in front of the dog - its working for the photo in that the texture is the main immediate focus. You have GRIT and a lot of it. THEN you see the dog, looking slightly menacing (one eye, matted fur?) or maybe playfull (flying sand, wet fur?)- but your not given enough information because of the crop. This makes it interesting in creating a sense of "Whats really going on here?". It has the same curiosity inducing effect on the viewer as a knowing smile on a portrait with no outside explanations given. I found myself looking for MORE in the photo. Trying to pick out more details from the background to make more sense.
So, played by all the "rules". No, and it worked out wonderfully. :) |

Definitely Not Going Anywhereby anmldocComment by anmldoc: Originally posted by mpeters: Good finish! As I said before, the tones in this picture work well. |
Thanks Mpeters and everyone else who liked my image. I thought it was good--a little surprised though at my finish--wasn't expecting this high of a finish--there are truly some amazing pictures out there.
@kemptonreporter--I agree that this was the wrong time of day--but I couldn't do much about it. It seemed to do ok anyway.
With regards to the comment being off balance...for future reference I was wondering what made it off balance--the extra space in front of the boat, or the leaning of the boat.
Thanks again. |
